Yes, I'm a newbie with a question. A friend of mine found this car recently. I'm trying to get it from him. Anyway, we can't figure out if it is a 34 cabriolet, or if someone cut the top off. It was hot rodded locally in the 60's up through the 80's. This guy used to drive it around as his daily. It was set up with a 51 olds engine. Thought you might enjoy these pics. thanks for the help.

Really hard to say what it WAS...with all the upholstery hiding the moldings...no one is going to know until that part gets removed. And it probably was a coop at one time in its life.

  3. Cabrios had roll up windows with a soft top. Roadsters had snap in side curtains. Thats all I know, I'm into the new cars (49-64).

I think the cabriolets had fixed windshield posts as I see on your car, the roadsters had bolt on posts....

need better pics for sure... Looks like there is a slight curv in the windshield post at the top. So i bet its a coupe cut down and the door doesnt look very long. So my guess is a 5w coupe cut down. No one will be able to give you a answer until you get better pics.

whatever it is, restore it the way it was originally rodded with the Olds motor. Looks like a great project!

I wouldn't even worry about it. It's a cool little rod and I wouldn't even think of putting the body back to original.
