Greetings all. Newb here, with a 1930 5-window coupe, in Boston. It's rough, but I'm not building a show car. Plans are to box the frame, flatty if I can find one and afford it, and satin black. Don't know much about Model A's right now, but I hope to hang out and learn. I'll try to put up some pics Pete
I am in the same situation, 30-31 5 window coupe and I am just learning, well you picked a good place to learn. Welcome Clyde
Ah a barn fresh one Call it a 30 Stanard Coupe, all were 5 windows until 1932 when the 3 window came out. Id suggest getting "How to build a Traditional Hotrod" By Mike Bishop & Vern Tardel ISBN 0-7603-0900-0 Gave me a lot of ideas and know how when I did my body and frame.
Welcome to a fellow Bostonian.( I,m displaced) Good luck with the project. Are you from a suburb or proper
Guys, thanks for the help! Eric, thanks for the terminology, a 30 Standard Coupe. And yes, I've got some reading to do. Scott, I'm from the Western burbs, about 30 miles outside Boston. Rolf, that's some very nice work on that Model A index. I will read that in detail when I have time. I've seen pics of your car before. That's where I'd like to go for the most part. Pete
I remember first logging on with my Coupe. You are hooked now. Lots of cool Coupes around here to help you get yours built. Welcome aboard
pete, i am nearby, and i am happy to help. i am no expert but i have had a bosy in my barn for 3 years. and i do have some pretty definite plans for mine that might help you in your search for direction. pm me if you want to hook up. mark
Looks like you are off to a good start, and this is THE place to be for advice or to ask questions, good luck and welcome.Greg
I am also a very green newbie. I just bought my first project, also a 30 5 window with a 49 Merc flathead and partially built rolling chassis. I would love to share ideas and learn with you. Anyone have other good reference reading matter. I have Bishop and Tardel's book and it is very helpful, but I need more detailed basics on chassis building, body mounting, body work etc. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
