Hey all, I think I'm here to learn some stuff and maybe...just maybe I might be able to help someone now and then. I'm a welder/fabricator/machinist which lends itself nicely to hot rodding. I got into the 'scene' watching my dad work on and build his cars and then help his family and friends all while working 16hrs a day! Yep, he's a car nut lol, and I guess the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. Him and I are building a '28 Model A pickup which is for sale (buyer coming tomorrow hopefully). Once we sell that then I should be able to get permission from the missus to get my grubby little hands on a '28 tudor. I want to chop, channel and Z it to be pretty low. BUT I also want to be able to run a back seat so I can bring my family to runs. I also want to run a SAFE front end so I am thinking of going with a mustang II type instead of the traditional. I would really like to hear from anyone who has the i beam front end mounted suicide to see how it actually handles/steers. I've hear most are death traps over 60. Although my dad mentioned to me the other day that someone came out with a rack for this style front end that is very short and goes where the vega style box would go. Any and all advice would be great. Thanks for letting me come aboard :)

Some details on the truck, custom 2x3 and 2x4 chassis stretched 6", Mustang 8.8 posi rear end, triangulated 4 link, heidt super ride front end with wilwood 4 piston polished billet calipers, polished stainless control arms, 5 bolt ford lug conversion, 350 sbc, 4spd auto, 18" Eagle wheels, headman block hugger headers, cherry bombs (of course lol), custom fuel tank, 6" extended cab, custom roof and visor and a mild chop. It turns the 18's quite nicely :)

Thanks guys :) I can search for some pics of the build but we put the gas tank behind the rear end. We thought it was safer than the saddle tanks and my dad wanted to keep the bed floor open. I would have liked to use an old whiskey barrel to house the fuel tank but he's the boss lol.

Hey guys I found a couple build photos that might help. When we extended the cab we actually cut the protruding section behind the door out and flipped it around so it was recessed, it only made sense to mimic the recess for the window. Any way we used a piece of channel my dad had for the belt line on the extended cab as well rather that try to copy and weld in a small patch. In the frame shot, the tank is in the very back behind the rear end. It fits pretty tightly in this area. There is a pic of Old Wayne and Young Wayne contemplating our next move haha. The last pic you can see the bottom of the tank. We made it out of 14 gauge steel with 2 baffles in it.
