Hey guys! New to the board so I thought I would start a thread. Just finishing up a Porsche 914 GT (first resto) and moving into the next venture, a 1960 Ford T-Bird. I got really good tips/advice/etc on 914world.com (for Porsche 914's) and hope to get some good info here too.

If you like, my Porsche restoration thread is here....

    A little about the car...

Grandfather bought the car in 65, he was the second owner after he bought it from a Preacher in San Pedro (part of LA) and he had it until about a year ago when he decided to p*** it to me. Car has been a CA car for a long time and is ok.

Unfortunately for me, Grandpa was a pretty bad PO, having "touched up" the paint by getting it color matched at the local Home Depot. Between that, plenty of velcro to hold stuff on to the zip ties he used to hold it on in the first place, the car needs alot of TLC.

Good sides: The car is matching numbers; engine, body, ******. Also, it has all original interior in good condition, just needs a little fix up on the doors. All parts are there and work, so I think I can drive and work on this once the 914 is running.

Job 1 is rebuilding the carb and getting the ignition fixed. This Friday is Cars on Grand in Escondido and I hope to take it out there.

    Some pictures....

Just so you know before you get slammed, there are people on this board who are quite hostile to restorers. ('Cause, you know, restorers try to preserve everything and we rodders and customizers are blasphemers who prefer to change anything we don't like.) Matching numbers mean nothing to a rodder or customizer.

However, the fact that it's a '60 T-Bird and been in the family since 1965 should cut you at least SOME slack. Just don't get ****ed into any ideological debates about rodding vs. restoring and you should survive intact.

It might be a good idea to start a different thread and politely ask if there are any resources or discussion boards for squarebirds.

Ha, thats cool. I wouldnt say I'm must of a restorer, but if you had seen the Porsche before I started, I can't think of a better term, other than 'bringing it back to life'. For me with the bird, I just want it to look cool and dont care for matching numbers much either, as long as it's what I like and it looks badahss.

Like a total newb, I thought this was the place for introductions, my fault, I'll post there. I'm only 21 and new to all cars, so forgive me.

Oh, and thanks for the other sites, I'll join those too!

I'll also be adding more pictures today and once I get done with the other car, I'll be updating this.
