Just a quick note to say hi to all of the guys and gals out there with the same type of sickness, hobby, etc. that I have. Working on a 66 Nova Altered wheelbase, single seater and a 67 Chevelle for a street car. I have come to the site off and on for a while to read articles and such, so I thought I might as well join the group, if you'll have me with my newer cars.
Welcome from New Mexico Wayne! Your cars are fine with me although the 'cut off' is loosely (I believe) '64. It sounds as though you've visited often enough to have a pretty good idea of that, so maybe 'plan on' or get yourself the 'start' for an older traditional type. Welcome, and good luck either way.
Hi HamD, No the 67 isn't making it to any show yet. Hopefully both cars will be on the road by April. Working on painting the 67 Chevelle now.
I kinda knew the cut off was a ways back, but try as I may I could not find it in any writing or text on this site anywhere. If they don't want me, (and they might not) maybe an administrator could point me to the rules and regs that state the cut off and I'll take my toys and go home, tear,
Welcome from Indy and don't go home just yet. You can STILL get plenty of good info and contribute as well. Most of the builds and tech stuff here will fit in with any 60's Ford, Chevy, Olds or.....? The metal on them grinds and welds the same and even rusts the same. 64 is the official cut off but a 350 chevy and a turbo don't know what year they are now do they?
How hokey assed will the paint job be? Paint at home or sourcing a booth? How much work is done by your own hands?
Hoping the paint turns out way better that these hands can do. Hired a guy to do the bodywork and prime and hopefully my buddy can shoot it for me. I do the grunt sanding, cut and weld, grind, labor mostly. been in the garage every weekend and most nights since april fabricating, welding, grinding, patching, priming, etc. So i would say there's not an inch of this car that I have not touched.
