Hello all, I'm a newbie from North Dallas. I'm married with 3 kids, so my garage time is sacred to me. I just picked up my first ground up build and am looking forward to diving in. I picked up a '27 Model T Touring body and just started the long process of de-rusting and repairing it. This is my 3rd project car, but by far the hardest to date. I've previously owned a '46 Nash 600 that I regret selling and a '67 Mustang. Wanted to do a more simple ground up build with a fibergl*** '23 body, but the '27 fell into my lap and original is better than replica. I want to keep it a 4 door since most people hack the back end off. I want to have something that not that many people have. I'm planning on going very basic with it because I don't need any frills. It's more about function than form for me. I've never attempted a full ground up build before, so I welcome any and all advice from people that have done it before.
Welcome from Washington and good luck with your project! Good call keeping it as a 4door; should make it quite unique..
Just picked up a Model A frame from fellow H.A.M.B.er Roothawg. Looks like a previous owner just wanted a farm trailer and converted the frame for that use. With a few adjustments, it'll be just the skeleton that I need to go under my T. Spent some time today grinding the rust off and my 4 year old was busting out some of the rusted out bolts.
