Been reading the boards, figure I should post an intro.

I don't have an old school rod yet, but I have a truck as my daily, and a '64 beetle that's worked over pretty well (grafted in ragtop, lowered, 2275cc with double 2 barrel dellorto's, close ratio 4 speed etc.).

I've done a few projects ranging from the good ol' bellybutton in an S10 swap to a tuneup on a straight 6 in a 55 bellaire, various mopar and old musclecar work etc. I like anything with wheels basically. I'm not saying I'm a good mechanic, but I'll take any opportunity I can to learn. I turn wrenches for a living, just not on cars.

I'm without a garage to work in for a few months, but I'm trying to build my own shop both for car work and for some other projects.

In the meantime I'm going to go to the next local meet I saw in the other forum, and if anyone in the area needs a hand, let me know. Both my cars are "finished" (as finished as any car can ever be of course), but I'll help however I can with other projects just because I enjoy building and learning.

I'm thinking the people here will be more into building / driving their cars, instead of just standing around talking about cars like the other clubs I'm in.

Here are a few pics of my car. I wish it was a 53-57 (oval window), but hell at least it's paid for and I can start looking for a traditional roadster to work on.

Damn man, that sounds crazy. Did you build a custom frame for it or what? I've seen a 392 in a super, but it ended up looking less than great.

There was a guy around years ago who hacked an old FWD cadillac setup with the v8 into the back of a baja, so it didn't look *too* obvious.

I'm guessing I'm in the 180hp range with mine, I'm going to throw it on the dyno at a local group dyno session on Sat. the 28th and see what I can tweak out of it. I'm going to go with a small hair dryer eventually, but I'm saving for a garage and then a roadster so it's going to be very far in the future.

I'm in Meyerland now, around Braeswood and Hillcroft, about 3 miles from the loop (southwest side of town basically.) I'm looking to build a shop in the warehouse district / 3rd ward area soon though. It's the cheapest land that's still close to the city.

I'm originally from the Santa Fe / Texas City area and still have friends and family down there.

Big welcome from a fellow VW man.

I'll never forget one of my early post when I showed a picture of my 60 Lincoln parked on the street in front of my house and in the background was my 65 bug in the gated driveway. A lot of people pointed out that my bug should've been on the street and the "real" car in the driveway. Funny shit.

Have fun around here. It's a great place.

    Heh. That's cool man.

Yeah I know I could just sell the bug and put it towards something old(er) school, but I'm not selling cars anymore, I'm collecting them.

So if that's the case I've got to learn more, and I'm pretty sure this is the place to hang back, shut up, listen up, and learn.

Yeah but I know how to duck and/ or drive fast. ;)

Plus I'm building a big metal building with no windows and metal doors and a wrought iron fence. I'm not saying it will be impossible, but I sure won't be the easiest target.
