Thought I would intoduce myself to you guys. I'm a retired fire fighter from the UK and have been into pre '65 American cl***ics for as long as I can remember!!! I've just started my very first project which is a 1947 Flxible Clipper Bus that Bob Rowsell's shop in California is helping me with. Probably should have started with something a little smaller for a first project but the bus was headed for the crusher and I couldn't let that happen The Flxible was stood for over 35 years in the desert but all of the work to get the bus running has already been done. It's just been stripped, sand blasted and is ready for paint (bottom picture). Don't want to mess with the cl***ic lines too much but any ideas on where to introduce some custom bodywork touches will be much appreciated. Inside will be a custom RV interior on a route 66 theme.
Thanks, I'm keeping to the original Railroad Pacific blue and white paint design and adding chrome to the fenders, wiper blade arms, rear side mirrors and "Flxible" nameplate on the front of the bus but wondered if rear wheel arch guards would look better as with the Flxible custom coach below?
Welcome from Illinois. I'm seriously jealous! That thing is awesome!:thumbup: Sent via Illinois Bell Telephone Company's Car Radiotelephone Service
The wheel arch guards do add a nice flow to it. It's really going to come out great. Hope you post progress pics.
Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated. I'll keep the thread updated with progress and as it's my first project, any advice as I go will be very welcome.
