Just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Marcus, I'm 35 and live in Mississauga, Ontario near Toronto. I'm into traditional, early to mid 50s kustoms, specifically shoebox Fords. My first kustom was a 56 Merc which I sold this spring to finance my two projects, a 49 Ford coupe and 50 Ford convertible. Yeh, I know they look pretty stock now, but I spent last summer putting the rag on the road and most of this summer trying to get the 49 roadworthy. Plans for the cars: 49 coupe: lowered 3", nosed, decked, shaved, 51 trunk lid with 51 hinges, 51 bumpers, frenched headlights and taillights, combination of stock 51 trim and 57 desoto below the beltline, modified 50 Pontiac caps, cut-down 51 Merc skirts, 57 Mercury y-block with 3x2s, 53 Kaiser front and rear overriders, 50 Meteor grill and shell (basically narrowed 50 Merc grille) 50 rag: lowered 3", nosed, decked, shaved, 49 Merc bumpers, frenched headlights and 53 Buick taillights, 59 Pontiac trim, 56-57 Lincoln caps, flush cut-down 51 Merc skirts, dressed flathead. I eventually want to chop the car 2-3" but still have a functioning top. Since I've got most of the pieces already, this ain't a pipe dream, but as you guys know, a house, mortgage, wife and a kid on the way limits your finances and time. I'm hoping to get a lot of insight and tech advice as I go through my projects. Since there are only 4 kustom car guys I know of in the Toronto area (nearly 3 million people) we're a rare bunch up here. I'm surrouned by restorers....Help.
