Hi guys, I've been lurking around here for a while and finally decided to come out of the shadows and introduce myself. I've been a gear head ever since I was a kid. I attended a crappy tech school when I got out of HS and worked for several years in the trucking industry as a fleet mechanic. I pretty much learned how to do just about everything there.(ie, welding/fab) I have rather eclectic tastes in autos and motorsports in general. I have atleast 10 British cars, a '41 Ford truck,(just got it!) a Jeep rock crawler, and a low-buck Mustang race car. The car has been ran at the last 3 GRM $200X Challenges with some success. http://www.grmotorsports.com/news/category/2006-challenge/ The whole event revolves around racing on the cheap and only allows the builder a $2000 limit on the total build. No billet here! The competition involves a dragrace, auto-x, and a car show. Kinda fun. Well, this year's event is my last and I will need a new release for my automotive urges. I've been really wanting to turn this horribly cobbled up '58 Austin Cambridge into a gasser. I picked the car up on ebay. The former owner had put the car on a Toyota truck frame,(it was unibody to start) built a custom floor from sheet metal and lawn furniture, converted from a 4 door to a 2, chopped the roof off, and installed(sorta) a SBF in it. I basically got the car for what the trim was worth, so it wasn't a bad deal. Here's the plan, fix the chassis, install a Model A front axle, some sort of Ford axle out back, possibly a Slant-6 for power, re-attach the roof,(chopped of course) and fix the doors. My site was hacked a few weeks ago otherwise I'd post some pics. Another thing to mention, atleast once or twice a year I make a run from Denver to Detroit dragging a 40' car trailer. I'll keep you guys posted on that. Anywhoo, HELLO!
