My name is Scott Hovet, and I’m a 45 year-old high school English teacher living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Since my first “real” car show and road trip to Paso Robles in 2006, I’ve met more genuinely cool and interesting people that I can’t begin to count them. From Viva to Salina and most recently the Road Rocket Rumble in Indianapolis, one of the most unifying activities I’ve noticed a**** these awesome car folks is that they all communicate through the H.A.M.B. That’s why I want to become part of this forum. Currently I own a ’53 Studebaker Starlight Coupe which I’ve driven thousands of miles, and although I truly love this car, my dream is to eventually ***emble and drive an actual hot rod – a circa ’28-’34 two-door sedan, for example. Some very early plans are already in the works, and I have some close friends who are also excited about the possibilities of this project.
Welcome to the board ! I only have one question: " ARE YOU ABOUT A SIZE FOURTEEN ?? " Seriously guys, Scott is the real deal. Fairly new to the world of Rods & Sleds but already understands that traditional is the way to go. And an English teacher to boot, finally, a guy who can spell around here. Glad you're here, Johnnie.
Hey Scott! Doesn't Johnnie have a 28 two-door body lying around??? Are you going to go to the Bo Huff show July11th? I think Big Rich and Johnnie are heading out there, and I'm planning on driving my Merc. Anyway Cheers! Mike Arbaney
By the way Scott, I got the estimate for the damage to my truck when you ran into it. You can just send payment directly to me! Glad your here. See ya soon!
Studebaker...??? What the hell is that...??? IF you know 5windowJohnnie, then you've got to know Dave Pareso... Oh, and don't forget Pareso's Paint 'n Primer show on August 31st... see you there... BTW, welcome to the coolest site on the planet... R-
Mike, Yeah, I've got a '28 Tudor body here. I think Scotty is coming up to look at it. If serious he should jump grab it cuz it's very nice. A great place to start. Johnnie.
Hoevt and I have talked about doing a gtg on Saturday nights at the Bonn Safeway shopping center on Whasatch
Hello, everyone! Sorry it took so long to respond, but I’ve been out of town since last Thursday for the Street Rod Nationals in Pueblo. Aside from a bit of family drama (familiarity DOES breed contempt!), we had a great time and saw quite a few traditional rods – more than usual it seems, which is nice! Of course we saw more than our share of some very expensive but altogether ridiculous fibergl*** cars, modern side view mirrors, and giant billet wheels, but that naturally comes with the territory. One of my favorite cars there found its way into the winner’s circle (Mike DeVreindt’s ’46 Ford Woody Convertible), and my good buddy and roommate, Greg Pitman, won a pair of ’34 Ford frame rails and a set of BF Goodrich tires. Man he’s been lucky lately… Hey, Ratrod51! It was awesome to see the ’40 Ford and ’40 Chevy truck at the Street Rod Nationals last weekend, but I’m sad we didn’t get to talk more. Are you and Didi going to Johnnie’s shindig in Gunnison? If not, I’ll definitely see you at Pareso’s Paint ‘n Primer show. Also, if you give me a chance I think I can buff out that little scratch I put on your trailer hitch with the front end of my Stude… Mike1951, let’s definitely do beer and BBQ soon! Thanks again to everybody for the warm welcome!
Yeah dude, as soon as Johnnie told me about his '28 Sedan body my mind started racing with ideas... Unfortunately I won't make it to Bo's on July 11 because of prior commitments, but I hope to see you in Gunnison if not sooner! By the way, thanks for the tip on the super-strong magnets for the Stude's old speaker grill. I ordered some from ThinkGeek.com (hee, hee...), and they work like magic! Sweet
