First I have to say, I'm educated and inspired on a daily basis thanks to this board. I wouldn't be tackling a project if it weren't for the things I've seen done here.

Okay, so I have been a lurker for the past 6 or so months. In that time I've been looking for an affordable project I could cut my teeth on, as I have never worked on a car before in my life =]

I am a digital artist by day and I'm mostly consumed by my work, but I have been hoping to remedy that by getting into something that would require me to get off my fat ass and get dirty. I finally went this weekend to pick up my project. A late model 1951 chevy pickup, with the deluxe five window cab. It looks rough but the little bit of work I got to do this weekend was a blast. I look forward to sharing my progress with you guys. Wish me luck, I'll need it...

and a few more pics of the cars I knew you guys would kill to have that he wouldn't sell me =[

I got the truck in Sherman, the guy I bought it from had a hot rod shop years ago, and he still has a yard full of cool cars.

He has a 1940 ford truck that is in really great shape.

I didn't buy it, because it needed alot more work than my truck in the chassis department.

My truck comes with a 327, and synced up 3 speed tranny. 74 camaro front end, and a 69 impala rear end. I have never driven a standard, so I may get rid of the tranny I have for an automatic.

Welcome aboard. Looks like a great start. You better keep the stick you will regret going to a autimatic in the long run. Even if it is a three speed I would keep it. A true hot rod has three pedals. Godd luck with the truck
