Hello my name is Dan I joined HAMB last July. I discovered this site looking for info on paint, body work, and rust removal. The more I look at conversations on this site the more addicted I become. I’m presently restoring and modifying an OT car’64 sprite. I’ve learned quit a lot by browsing. One question I have is why a 1965 cut off , doesn’t really matter just curious. About myself: Retired now. Worked in the petro chemical industry for 19 years and then 22 years at a major manufacturing concern. I have a Mechanical Engineering background 2 yr degree I am/was certified to work on Waukesha engines GE gas turbine and few others. I love cars my dad was a car guy it’s in my blood the above mentioned sprite was his. I have owned many vehicles including a 1960 F100 Looking back should’ve kept many cars that I owned oh well. when done with my OT project I’ll be looking for a new project might just be a pre 64 maybe even a traditional HR. Thanks all for your knowledge and sense of humor! Dan
Welcome back. 1965 was chosen as the boss here considered it the end of the era of guys building 'traditional' hot rods. What caused the era to end. It was probably the introduction of factory muscle cars, like the GTO. And the introduction of pony cars, the Mustang being the first. Glad to have you aboard.
