Hey all, passed this site a few times, and decided to stop for a better look this time. Seems to be tons of sweet cars, plenty of great ideas, and some decent people too. Me, I have been wrenching since I was 3, have the pics to prove it, my current project has spanned over way toooo many years, and is a 69 Plymouth Valiant. The car that drew me to this site is the 46 Special Deluxe that Ill be starting soon. Pretty common car, but building it for my wife, and doing it cheap! As always. Was a welder / fabricator by profession for 8 years, and built all kinds of custom stuff from Stair railing to steam screens for Submarines, to custom bumpers and so on. Over the past few years I have done a large portion of fabrication on several friends cars, namely a 31 Ford Rat, and now a 34 fenderless (temperary). I plan to get started on the 46 Special D as soon as possible. Hope I can offer some good advice and hope to recieve some as well. Later !
Welcome to the Hamb. Glad you decided to take your hat off and stay for a while. Just a little help for you, rat$ are off topic around here.
Here is the 46. She still sits like this, just in my driveway! Plans are to keep it for the most part stock as far as trim goes. Paint will be flat black, and then I plan to have a friend stripe it like crazy. Not going too crazy with it, but may lay the top back a bit. I plan to leave the windshield alone and just basically take some of the "hump" out of the rear. Looks kinda goofy in a profile view. Hope ya like the humble start!
