Hi everyone, new member from Middleboro, Ma. I'm 63, own a stock 42 Mercury which I have owned since 1985. Belong to South Shore Antique Auto Club, which holds meetings in Hanson Ma. The major undertaking of our club is running a trading bee once a year at Greatwoods in Mansfield Ma. every spring. My father had a 1941 Merc which he drove until 1951, when he traded for a used 1949 Ford, so old flatheads bring back memories for me. My first car was a tired 1950 Ford, bought in 1960. Owned quite few more flatheads back in the day, wish I still had some of them. My 42 Merc came from Herrick Motors in Duxbury Ma, purchased new by Wilfred Herrick, the owner's son. He drove the car until 1958, then it was stored in a corner of the garage. Herrick Motors was a victim of the first energy crisis, went out of business around 1972, the property was sold to the Catholic Church. The church didn't do any thing with the property until 1985, then the Merc had to go. That's when I got it. My wife Maureen and I get alot of enjoyment going to club tours, cruise nights etc.
