Newbie...

Greetings,
I'm new on the board & looking to get back into cars. My 17 year old is interested in building a Rat and we have begun looking for a victim. I have been away from cars since the early 80s (job/family) and have been playing with British bikes as a hobby. Looking to make some friends and relearn all the stuff I forgot. Thanks, John O

 

Welcome Aboard!! I am fairly NEW here myself. I have met one or two NEW friends here so far and they are Great People! Good to have around to ask questions and get good answeres. What kind of Rod are you looking for for your Son?

 

We have a line on a 51 Dodge, straight 6 and some sort of a manual automatic trans...hydrodrive/gyrodrive? It needs a timing chain and probably brake work. The body is solid and perfect. The man wants too much money for it so we're letting it sit for a while and make him an offer when it becomes an annoyance.

Your doing the right thing on the '51 Dodge, Dodge's don't bring very high prices. The guy is a dreamer if he wants too much for the ride, some people think all old cars are worth big bucks. It would make a great ride for the two of you to work on. I wish, I would of had a dad or grandfather who loved to work on cars. Good luck finding the right ride there out there. Think about finding another shoebox Ford again you can still find them at good prices. A shoebox Ford would be ideal for the both of you in more ways then one!
