hey ya'll I am new here... I just bought a 54 canadian pontiac that needs some work and I can't wait to do it! I also own a 69 and a 62 VW squarebacks... I live in Calgary Albera, Canada thats it.
so you own a Pontiac 2 vw,s and live in canada their is more so tell us or the intro police will get you....
G'day neighbour. There's a'54 pontiac custo inthe works in town as well. Can't remember who started it, "Boyd Who" (hamber) had it for a while and cleaned up the chop and the rear window. He sold it to Eugene Blanchard who is still building it as far as I know. mike
doc, i'm not complaining, mind you (yes, i am), but there's not much in your profile and not much more above. we really like to know more about new folks. we might want you for our new best friend if only we knew something about you. fill us in, if you don't mind. welcome, sort of. the welcome will get bigger when we know more about you. i tried to look at your poncho on the site you put up in your other post, but i guess our firewall here at work wouldn't let me get to it. maybe i'll be able to see it at home tonight. hope it's a nice one.
Sorry, I knew I had to intro myself but I wasn't sure of the extent. Born in Toronto Ontario, Canada, lived there alot of my life, built a few jeeps back in the day. Moved to Calgary about 7 years ago, got into VW's about5 years ago and have the 2 Type 3's as well as an 88 GTI for the day to day in the winter. I am a graphic designer here in town at an ad agency, I bought my first house in march and just finished a 3 car garage which I owe Rona ALOT of money for now. And today is my birthday. 28 I found out about this message board because I saw the owner in rod and custom, now I am hooked! I have always wanted a 50's custom car and saw an opportunity for this one for 1000 bucks and got it! they are pretty rare up here in canada, but as soon as you cross the border! TONS! I don't know if this will work, but here is a pic of my "poncho" http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289967627&p=4227289088&idx=4 and yes I have spoken with eugene before, his project seems to be coming along well, he is very thorough and innventive! anything else you guys wanna know?
The gay ones here like to know if your married or not. You should probley fill them in on your screen name choice too, it is alittle feminine Welcome aboard, glad to have another northern boy amoungest us. I'm just checking if the photo hosting site you use will allow hot linking. If your photo shows here it does. Great looking ride!!
NOPE that is not my car, it is just one in my album. That is a guy named HAL's up in edmonton. Mine is a rusty Pontiac that needs ALOT of work. HA! My real name is Mark Lovely and I am aspecialist in Photoshop (photo illustration software) I was given the nickname, Dr.Lovely. I live with my girlfriend...sorry boysss Here, this should be my car... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pef56cf3958440018a7cf81af3ea2e57d/fbf75000.jpg Hey Cword, where do you live? I am in Bankview
Trust me, you don't have to explain Photoshop to these dudes! They are Photoshop KINGS! Or should I say "Queens" Dr. Lovely... your "friends" have a since of humor, don't they? Well then, Hal has a nice looking ride!
Mark I'm not too far away, in Glamorgan. When I read that you had a '54 pontiac I was worried that Eugene's 54 had changed hands again. It's good to see you're starting with a nice fresh one. i'm surprised that nobody's asked to buy the grill bar yet. mike
Eh doc welcome from 'nother western canuck.Yup this place is kik***** for sure.I'm buildin Badpat a 54 poncho I picked up a few months ago at my shop the Way Back Garage here in Victoria.Whatcha got planned for yours?......Shiny
I am not totally sure yet, I am just getting into American 50's and what I want to do and what I can afford to do are WAY different things. I love the look of it right now but I would like to obviously get it running strong, lower it ALOT and chop the top 3 inches. Idealy I would like to put air ride suspension on it, suede black with fat whites and obviously re dip the chrome. We shall see I suppose.
Welcome Doc....good to have more canucks on board.I visited Calgary a coupla times....great city......Maybe I could convince the wife to move...mmmm Wonder If a Illustrator could survive there?....could clean livin!!!
OK Doc...now that you've given us the complete intro rundown...welcome here. BUT, pleeeezzee oh pleeeze DO NOT paint that Pontiac flat blak...as a "photoshopper extraordinaire" you CANNOT be serious about something as plain as flat blak! Get a life...put some shiney color on it...make it look like a real fifties sled (that was everyone's goal back then--shiney paint!)...besides we never had any flat blak...we had gray...and grey...and many, many shades of gray primer! At least, NO ONE in my area used flat blak...today it's B-O-R-I-N-G!!! R-
That's a better intro, welcome aboard. Nice looking start to a long project. Enjoy the tech. and banter around here, remember we all fear change so think carefully before you type. TZ
thanks for the welcome ya'll! stude- There aren't alot of 50's cars in flat up here in calgary and areas. I don't like shney paint as much as flat, I have a flat painted VW right now that I love. I would consider a flat navy or even a grey primer, i love the unflashyness of it.
