Hey everyone, new to the site but have been reading the forum for a while and I like the vibe here. Not uptight, and really helpful. Anyway, I've just bought my dad a '57 F100 as a surprise and am not too familiar with the y block although I built a '62 with a 223, I like the flat, meaty sound of the y blocks with porter or smithys on it but am worried that the steel wool will rust out, or is it stainless? I bought a 292 industrial with steel crank, stellite valves, out of a'59 fire truck with 32k miles. Runs fine too. He was going to throw the engine away complete with trans attached! What a waste! Glad I got it. Hope dad enjoys it.

Welcome from Oklahoma. Where is Auburn? Sounds like a neat project.
