I just purchased a 53 Chevy 210 for me and my son 13 year old son to fix up. It is in great condition with a rebuilt straight six motor but it has set up for 2 years so I am going through and re doing the fuel system fuel pump rebuild carb etc. it has been running good until yesterday when it died on me I took the inlet to the carb off and hook it back up and I was able to get almost home before it died again I am guessing since it set up so long I should start with the fuel system I have a fuel pump to put on and will get a carb rebuild kit. Welcome from Connecticut. If the gas in the tank was two years old, that may be the problem. With all of the additives now, gas goes sour in 3-6 months.
Welcome from west Texas . My dad (gone a year now) did same thing for me at that age and it brought us together and learned a lot .
