Well I'm a Newbie and this is my first attempt at building a Rod. 3inch chop, filled roof, front and side tinted safety gl***, 4 inch dropped axle, rear coilovers, fully boxed frame, 4 wheel disc brakes, frenched 59 caddy taillights, 302 with 600 carb, HEI, and mild cam, 4 speed toploader ******, barb wire grill, mexican blanket interior, etc. What do all of you experienced Hambers think?

I believe the word you are searching for is Orcabetties.

I second the barb wire removal, other than that it looks pretty good. I might consider channeling it if it was mine.

Barb wire grill is a crowd favorite-everyone has to touch it. Maybe I should put some power to it...

Build time was about 8 months. Body was chopped and frame was boxed when I bought it.

I never liked the term 'Orcabetties" I call them something different.
So here is the new term...you heard it first from me on the HAMB ....

I personally like it. If you like the certain things that others don't....so what. It is not their car, everyone has there own opinion. I wish I had the resources to have my first hotrod the way you have yours, your definitely on the right track.

Not bad, radials don't work for a traditional look in my opinion. Better than what most people end up with for a first attempt and I would eventually look at some shiney paint in the future.

  18. Nice first build. Remember, no one else has to like your car. You built it for yourself with your ideas. If you like it that is all that counts. There isn't a cookie cutter pattern you are supposed to follow. Traditional is fine, but nothing wrong with a little individualism thrown in. Otherwise we might as well be building cookie cutter muscle cars with matching numbers. Pat.

Hi or low. Chopped or not. Channeled or not. Barbed-wire or chicken-wire. To each his own right? If it were mine I would have done some things different, ****hat doesn't matter. What matters is that you built it, are proud of it, and it's a kick*** ride my friend!

Be proud and most importantly, where in the hell did you find a body in that good of shape in Michigan!?!?! I'm lookin' for one (reasonably priced of course).

AUTOJUNKIE, I actually got the body from a guy in Wisconsin. It has some lower patch panels installed and could use a new p***enger door but the subframe was mint.

I'm not looking fot a shiny paint rod so the condition of the body doesn't bother me at all.

Looks like a lot of fun. There are some details I would change if I were going to park it in my driveway, but I think it should certainly get you down the road to build some of that experience so your next build can be even better.

I would lose the barbwire grill thingy and put some biasply's on it, if it was mine, but it's not, so do it the way you like it. Besides, if you're like me then this will not be the last car you build and on the next one you can change the things you don't like about this one.

Hey, I like the fact that you took put the time and effort into something worthwhile and had a blast doing it. Changes can be made over time if you, the owner, sees fit.

Ya can't/don't always get it exactly right the first time. Sometimes, you gotta step back and take a look. Overall, pretty damn good for your first attempt.

Oh, if we'd all post pictures of our first attempts...even the "experts" would be humbled.

    You asked what we thought.......
    LOSE:
the ugly 70's headers, the barbed wire, the disc brakes, the Air scoop and the coil over shocks......
Are you bulding a hot rod or street rod ?
