Hello from central Arkansas. I've been reading the HAMB for a long time, decided to join. Current project is a '65 F100. I'm getting the frame back from the sandblaster tomorrow. Also have a '67 Fairlane and a '61 Comet. I bought the Fairlane from my brother 'cause its got a hot 289 and a toploader. I intended to swing the motor/trans into the truck for a quick and dirty P/U project. But I ended up rebuilding the FE engine that was in the truck and keeping the Fairlane together. You know how it goes, couldn't stand to see the truck with a rusty frame, it needed new cab mounts, etc.. So now I'm rebuilding the truck from the frame up. I still don't know why I bought the Comet. But it looks cool. I will use the F100 to haul stuff that's too big or dirty to carry in a car trunk. So I want a tough finish. A shiny finish will show my shortcomings as a body man so I want a matte or flat finish. What kind of primer & paint should I use? Brent
Muttley, thanx for the tip on rustoleum I'm gonna run the ?? on the general forum as well. 52 panel, I'm near Ward, AR. Looks like you're southwest of Pine Bluff
I used some tractor enamel from my local Orschelin's (TSC, farm store). I think It was John Deere's brand or something. It is holding up OK, but I wouldn't expect it to last too long on your bed if used un-protected.
