not true...the Megasquirt II upgrade gives you ignition capabilities and tons of configuration options for advance/retard for up to 16 plugs

MS III is in testing phase and it lets you control sequential fuel delivery

The Mickey Thompson d port head pontiacs were kicking the 392 Hemi boys in the kiester up and down the track back in the day.
hemi's are great engines but IMO overrated and too expensive :p
I've never had a hemi or an old nailhead buick but I've never had anything rock out and pull so hard at 6 grand like a ported dhead 400 pontiac running 320 degrees on a high lift cam. (You have to have good rod bolts in that dinosaur)
Bigtime Pontiac and ford fan here, probably won't find me on a chrysler forum

Oh cool, I didn't know that! Thats awesome-thanks for the correction!

  8. so what are you doing here?

Seriously, if the poncho hemi heads were so good, how come they didn't rule the record books and there were so few of them?

And how come Pontiac thought it was a good idea to make connecting rods out of cast iron? :D

Ok, I obviously miss the connection here...Jeff, Scooter.....

Is the 'yuck for the Hemi? the poly? or the general thread theme?

    Enlighten me, please.

Even worst of all, there's a fake looking bolt on Hemi head and valve cover to make a SBC look like a Hemi. Now that right there is SICK:mad:. (IMOOC)

I wasn't talking about the hemi pontiacs I was talking about the stock head castings beating up the 392's...or maybe it's just an urban legend told around circles of firebirds on friday night ha haaa.
From what I've read, some of the early pontiacs and the poncho-gmc engines had forged con rods but they aren't recommended for racing since they are not as hard as the cast steel and bend easier.
The pontiac rods are cast steel like the pontiac cranks, not cast iron, not high nodular either they call them arma-steel rods and they are a good step better than nodular iron. They ring, they don't thud when you suspend them and strike them and they are supposedly good to 7 grand polished and blueprinted with arp bolts.
When a normal pontiac throws a rod it isn't the rod that failed it was the bolt.
I read in an old magazine that some of the old hemi's were so exactingly machined that you could get the caps mixed up and not have a problem lining them up.

I kind of like the newer hemi's I think some aftermarket stuff that would make them look more crafted like an s&s vtwin would be cool

  12. How about one of these . . . I'll argue all day! (Actually I'd love to build a big nastry 426 style - but that will be another day!) :D

  13. Nothing cooler than new motors in old iron. If you disagree, then get that flattie out of your "T"!

The thread theme. Not saying there's anything wrong with them, just that it's a strange place to talk about new generation Hemis.

Thanks Scott, I was just being a bit thick I 'spose...

As good/great as the 5.7/6.1 engines are, I agree that, just maybe, the Moparts forum is probably a better place to discuss them.
