I'll make this brief:

I called Bo last night he had just returned from another treatment session...this time it was for his shoulders and the treatment was radiation...he was weak as a kitten.

Previously, as you read, operations on BOTH his legs to insert rods in them to help stabilize his bone structure were done. Now his shoulders/back area are in need of help and are in bad shape.

So, our friend Bo is truly in-a-world-of-hurt, fragile, and needs all of our prayers to continue...now more than ever. Again, he said to thank all of you...you're helping to keep his spirits up at a time that is even more serious than what I first reported last week.

Prayers go out to him and all involved. I was just reading an old hot rod book yesterday and was surprised to see Bo's name in it. I was like, man, I was just reading about him on the HAMB. I really do hope he can power through this and come out to drive another day.

Had a great conversation with Bo ! He's feeling a little better, still weak & sore. Was in good spirits...told me he had a slew of cars back in his shop that he wants to get to work on as soon as he's able.

Bo doesn't like to be "sidelined" by anything and wants to get out of the hospital as soon as they'll let him. He's undergoing more radiation treatments for his shoulders/back this week, and the doctors' say if things look better he may get to go home by the end of the week...where he'll need to rest-up for awhile. ( Needs the help of a "walker" currently due to the rods now placed in his legs.)

He said that your prayers must be helping, and he thanks all of you again !

Bo is still in the hospital. In the rehab section now as they're trying to make sure he can walk okay with the rods that they've placed in his legs. Plus they're running a few more tests.

He says the Huntsman Cancer Center that he's in is really state-of-the-art with a great staff and equipment, and they treat him very well there. BUT, yes, he wants to get back home...the sooner the better !

Bo got to be home over the weekend, but was headed back to the Hospital today. He's undergoing somemore treatments...said he was still hurting pretty much. That's further localized itself in his back, neck, and, shoulders...where he was getting radiation treatments.

Please just keep him in your prayers, and Bo said to tell all "Sincere thanks, again."

I had the fortune and pleasure of meeting Bo a handful of years ago here in upstate NY at the South Butler drags/show.
Super nice guy and you can easily tell he's a genuine fella.
All my best to him for a speedy recovery!!
I truly hope he kicks this in the ass and is back doing what he loves real soon!!

I got the chance to hang out with Bo in Columbus a few years back. It's a long story but, it was a fun night that I'll remember forever. He probably remembers too. I wish him nothing but the best. He's a good man.

Here's a fast update for all: Bo's been in-and-out of the hospital a couple of times since my last Post...he's scheduled to go back in tomorrow for another treatment.

BUT, he called me to tell me that if he feels up to it, and gets the Dr.'s okay, he'll try to be in the Chicago area this weekend for his appearance. He really want's to get back on-the-road and say "Hi" in-person to all the great R&C and H.A.M.B. friends who've been praying for him, and sending those positive vibes his way.

He's a badass.......... GO BO, GO!

 

Talked to Bo Friday night. He was at the event in Illinois. Doc's told him not to go, but he told me "Jonnie...I'm gonna enjoy life while I can, felt like goin' and I'm here. Got some rest and then came out to meet some great car people !

When we talked, he was having dinner with Joe Bortz. Joe had some of his customs there like Jim Seaton's Barris-built '55 Chevy, and, the "Gene Pitney" '57 Ford. Bo wanted me to talk to Joe; we shared some time...he's such a GREAT car guy/preservationist...nice man.

Bottom-line is thank you: all of your good thoughts & prayers helped ! At least it gave Bo a few days of pleasure this weekend to balance-out, just a little, all the days of suffering.

Thanks for the update Jonnie. Glad Bo felt good enough to get a weekend out and about. Praying there are much more days like that ahead!

 

It's been a rough road here lately dealing with flooding, a friend locally in Hospice, and an elderly relative with only a short time to live. But, Bo & I have been keeping in-touch, and in a conversation a couple of weeks ago he was hurting, but relaxed, eating an ice cream cone, and watching his little grandkids run around. Said his yearly show had gone very well and he enjoyed what he could of it...his health being what it was.

That's all changed right now. He had gone back to the Hospital for more treatments. They then sent home a few days ago, as they said there was nothing more they could do for him there. Bo is in very serious condition, in Hospice care at home with his family around him. He is in such pain it hurts him to even have his bedclothes changed...due to the ravages of his Cancer & Chemo his bones are so brittle that his right shoulder is broken, and a leg also.

I keep in-touch with the family, and will give you any further news when I get it, but please just send out some prayers & good thoughts if you can...the last time we talked Bo said to thank you all for your support during the entire course of this illness which hit him almost exactly five years ago.
