While I have you're attention, I'll ***ume you have the current issue. chances are one of you has a scanner or a digital camera..... somewhere in the newest issue (I THINK) is some artwork, a few renderings of a '40 Ford. Someone did a few '32 roadster/corvette renderings in the same section. Can't remember at all..... Anyway, could one of you scan me a copy of the page with the '40's on it? There's a blue-ish one with cut up wheelwells and an interesting hardtopped roofline I need to see. THANKS!!!
no beef with the mag..... it was a gag to get people to look at the post so I'd actually get a response. otherwise it would be on page 3 in two minutes. already I've gotten 3 responses, so could anyone do me the favor? thanks again folks!
I've got a rant about not having a ****ing clue which month issue magazine people are talking about when the only way they ID it is with the words "The Latest"
hey DocJ.......ah, nevermind we don't have HEB's around here! but Street Rodder isn't worth my gasoline anyway... there, hows that for a rant?
If any magazine has a picture that inspires me its worth it, you plan on building something along those lines?
here's a rant,, in the latest issue of street rodder that ive seen(may be last months issue) there were some renderings to show some new ideas and there was one drawing of a knockoff of 'Rudys' 35 ford truck, but the renderings were supposed to be showing something new??? many many fenderless trucks have been suilt since then...
You coulda just said the one with the 32 on the cover. Oh I forgot, they all have 32s on the cover .....Shiny
I'm glad I'm not the ONLY one who caught that! All those 'new ideas' on that page were rip-offs! The truck was Rudy's with different paint, and the two others were Hot Wheels cars! Some of the other drawings were just Alloway/Boydster cars with paint jobs. Real cutting edge stuff! Not bad drawings...but to tout them as NEW IDEAS blows!
Man, I hope you're planning on building one like that! I've been starring at that thing every night for a week, drooling.
The doors on the purple '40 are too damn short and the rear fenders look like **** (even if you took the skirts off). That car is a train wreck as-is. Some 'chainer will build the Corvette/'29 "morphodite". JH
You have to take the bulk of the SR audience into the perspective... These ARE new ideas to the "Billet Gold Chain" crowd! And even if they aren't new ideas, they are newly publicly accepted by the editors of SR ideas. They ARE "The World's Street Rodding Authority" you know, they can't authorize any ideas too soon or they might get laughed at...Sorta like politicians. (I say publicly, because we all know it's a radical political/economic move to step on their "billet sponsors" like this... ) About the purple 40... I thought it was cool to 40 Chevy-ize the fenders by rolling them under on it since those particular Ford bodies look like Electrolux vacuum cleaners the way they just drop off straight across the bottom, especially when lowered. The windshield and windows are cool, but the door gl*** should have either stopped at the back of the door or the door should have been stretched to the length of the gl***. I would want it to still roll down into the door, and if it's stationary and just swings out with the door, your girl's gonna dump you the first time one of the window "points" pokes her in one of her "points". The skirts, and the responding scallops look like designs off two different cars. either dump the scallops, dump the skirts or both. The style of the car is 40's "Custom Coach Craft" anyway and predates the need or common use of scallops on street cars anyway. Chrome headlight trim should have corresponding chrome tail light trim, or French both. Other than that, I actually like the car! The green one looks great! It'd be easier to build from a '40 Chevy or Oldsmobile, but it looks great!
