The benefit will happen next month as planned.

If admin would be so kind as to "sticky" this, I would be obliged.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I met Steve in 1996 when he did a photo shoot on our car for Rodder's Digest. I'm glad to have met him. The rodding community has lost a good man.

My Condolences to Steve's family, I recently lost my dad and know what they are going through.

This is very sad news. Steve was a great guy. I first met Steve when he was editor of Street Rodder in the late 80’s – when he moved back to Minnesota to work on Rodder’s Digest we became friends I always enjoyed meeting up with him at local events – I have great memories of catching up at the Rodder’s Digest booth at BTT50’s (with 36 3-window jokingly trying to talk him into free subscriptions year after year) and visiting at the Roadster Swap Meets in the fall. He always had a smile and something good to say. This all happened so quickly, it’s frightening. From what I was told of what he was going through, he gave a valiant fight but is in a far better place now. He was a great guy that will be missed by many.

My thoughts are with his family.

  27. I would also like to add my Deepest Condolences to the family and friends of Steve.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Nats North right after he picked up his Coupe. He came out to look at my roadster that also had a nailhead in it. He told me about the coupe he had just got out of a chicken coupe.

A very nice person that made a huge contrabution to the hobby and will leave a lasting impresion on many of the people that he touched.

    RIP Steve:cool:

This is the first time a post got me this choked up. My deepest condolences to his family. He was a helluva guy.

When I expressed interest on the HAMB of doing some freelance rod journalism, he sent numerous PM's with sage advice. Then he offered me a chance to fill a job opening at Motorbooks. Unfortunately, I had just moved back from the east coast to Seattle, and the job was in Minnesota.

I'll never forget his help and generosity, a true, down-to-earth hot rodder in every sense. Godspeed, Steve.

    Jake
