Well, I finally started moving my reserve inventory, now that the shop is dryed in. They are stored 400 miles away (Northeast Arkansas) from my Broken Arrow home. This one is next after the F-1. It was my wife's grandfather's car. Some well meaning relative started "restoring" it years ago. I'm thinking mild custom, skirts, lakes pipes and lancers. Lowered of course. Now I've only got 3 more to move! (about 2400 miles worth). There doesn't seem to be as much info. available on the '59 ford as other years. If anyone has any links or sources I'd appreciate it. My searches really didn't turn up much. Thanks, Charley
I'd yard out the factory grille and EBay it, hunt on here for a Cal Custom tube grille, french the headlights, Use two sets of front bumpers from a '59 Edsel up front and out back. French the tailights and use either Satelite accesory tailights or flat pieces of red Lexan, leave the factory side trim, but lose all of the Ford script and other lettering.
I bought one for $1 in 1970 ! I was 12 and it was my first car.It was in decent shape,I drive it in the field for a couple years and sold it for $35.I sure do regret selling it!
Frenched headlights on a '59? I don't know if I'd like that. I had a '59 2 door sedan a few years ago, two tone green and white. I liked it mostly stock. I have a '59 Edsel now and I want it to be similar to my Ford. If I was doing your '59, it'd be basically all stock, but lowered with dual exhaust, dual antennas, def. WWW's, maybe some different caps or rims.
Thanks for the input guys. There won't be a lot of metalwork done because it has to kinda, sorta look like it did when Her grandfather drove it, (tutone red and white)thats why the mild custom route. As far as info, I have catalogs from most of the usual suspects, Macs, Cl***ic in okc, etc. My primary concern is the rubber seals for the top (window to top) and similar items. It seems to me that things get sp**** for the '58 and '59 unless it's a retractible. I'm in good shape for drive train (65 bird donor car) it's the little things that will be the toughest. I will certainly call for help as needed. Thanks again!
