Greetings! I have been lurking for a while, as ever since I got my 39 Chevy a year ago, I kept ending back on the HAMB when I pinged the internet for advice on tech, ideas, etc. This place has been a great source of ideas and info, so figured I better jump in. I have been a car nut since I don't remember (Rusty's Maki's 29 roadster when I was 5 year old?), but ended up the route of muscle cars, then a few Vettes. But was always drooling over the rods & customs in Hot Rod and other mags. Growing up in Northern Wis did not lend well to hot rods in the 70's, but being in SoCal the last 20+ years has opened my eyes to the many options a car guy can do. Been hanging for a few years with some great rodders in the Chino/Pomona area, and as they so kindly (and often)reminded me that I needed to get a life, I finally found what I wanted in a fat fendered 39 Chev Coupe. Thought I'd start out with something partially built, and found her about 80% done. Great bones & body, basic drive train in & paint done. It's a good starting point for learning what's what with these beauties, and helps me know what to look for when I am ready to tackle a full build - my next goal. This one may not be a full traditional, but does begging spare parts off your friends, scrounging the swap meets for deals & making sure my buddy Joel put some pleats in the new interior count for anything? Love the HAMB threads, love the Jalopy Journal info & loving driving something old than me! Bob
