You know, the ones you see in some of the old starting line pics hanging over the lanes as the drivers are doing their burnouts. When did they start using them? Anyone have some good pics? Thanks in advance for the knowledge.
No info on this? There is NO way I have stumped THIS bunch of gearheads. Where are the guys who were there? Where are the guys that ALWAYS have the answers? C'mon... someone has to know!!!! Im not tryin to figure out how to wash a barnfind or ask how much a bumper bracket is worth or even... dare I say... if I am poking the traditional or not question.

This banner is from a car show in Iowa in 1954 that was organized to create interest in the new NHRA. My dad was there in his 40 Standard.
So... from the NHRA link, it looks like the 61 Winternationals had a banner... anyone know of, or have pics of other ones? Thanks Fenders! 36cab... VERY cool pic! TY
http://www.nhra.net/50th/races/021401.html Here's an article from the NHRA's website about the very first NHRA national event in 1955 with a picture of the NHRA banner, so I would say that they have used banners from the beginning.
