Colsey -- How bout following up this 1967 article with the article that is in last month's ( dec 2010) issue of Muscle Car Review magazine that is all about the Rund Car re-creation by Joe Donnelly. Joe has replicated the car to the most minute detail, even as far as the hand-made wooden frame for the oil, water, and amp gages under the dashboard. There is also mention in the mag of the other 2 recreated Olds of Sam Murray ( brainbeau 67) and my own 67 (Chesrown) car. Thanks for "thinking" of us 'Olds Guys" in your thread!! Keep up the work!!
as of about 10 years back the ranger rambler was still on the island.......it was no great thrill 343 not even a bb
Thanks -- I will try to scan it in next day or so and get it to you. I may have to send it to you and have you post it.

Isn't that the original Tension? Before the white car, Don Stephenson and Fred Anderson raced a Tension '57 that was wrecked at a NHRA national event by a out of control altered coming off the line. This was around 1966 I believe. It was at this point that the white Tension car was built, along with the In-Bomber and Good In-Tension. -Dean
I stumbled across these Tension pics while searching for M/P drag photos. I thought there was some relation between the two cars. Here are 2 more pics.
If any of you are model builders we do the decals for the white "Tension" and the colors are correct. We also do decals for a lot of other Junior Stockers here is a link to our site. http://decalsbylucas.com
Nope the white Tension car was not the original as far as I know. The car that was damaged was never run again from what I gather, but the white car and Good In-Tension both ran into the late 60's. Here's a shot of Tension staging behind the In-Bomber at the 1969 NHRA Winternationals. -Dean
I have that article, but it states that the damaged car was a Bel Air? The white Tension was a 210 sedan. This is interesting, I'l have to talk to my sources and find out just what happened. I have spoken with Fred Anderson before, as well as the entire In-Bomber team, but I have yet to get a hold of Don Stephenson. -Dean
It was a thought, but my biggest concern is that the original Tension '57 still exists somewhere. I won't get into the whole story, but I can tell you that as of 5-8 years ago or so it did, but has since dissapeared. Wether or not it will re-surface, or is even still around is unclear. I picked up a white '57 210 sedan that does have some race history (nothing too outstanding or documented though) and have since started lettering and finishing it in my own style. It would be neat to re-build it as Tension, but only if the original car was gone I think... -Dean
Dean, Junior Stocker or not, this car looks killer. Just curious, what is the "JA" decal on the front quarter window of the white car. I noticed you have one on the In-Bomber as well next to the trophy decal on the windshield. Thanks.

Competed on dragstrips since the 1950s and won the AHRA 1963 Springnationals in E-Stock class. Worked for Eastern Drag News and Drag Times until 1977 and then became an accident recovery specialist. concerning the tension cars; i grew up across the street from donnie stephenson, along with fred anderson we all still live in omaha. i see them both every summer at our local hot rod reunion. the 2 tension cars pictured have no connection i'm aware of. wally nissen succumed to cancer some time back, he even campainged a circle track car for a time, he also welded on the alaska pipeline back in the day on 2 seperate stints. made really good money to feed raceing. to my knowledge the white 210 sedan was dismantled and cut up, it no longer exists in any way shape or form. the good intension car was a frame off beautifully built bel air hardtop. even used a 1 piece 150 frame and cal. front bumper ,all to save wieght. up until a year or two the car was in northern iowa, for sale, and needing quite a bit of work to bring it back. currently, fred is still into cars and has a nice late model corvette and ssr chev pickup. donnie has a really nice white 57 hardtop, 4sp with cragars. hope this helps, ijust don't know how to do this very well.
