Agreed. I posted that photo of the Rotunda Vette much earlier. Those are different wheels than on the goat. Verne
First of all the 340 was not introduced until 1968 but was not available in the Valiant sedans, only available in the Barracudas for the smaller Plymouth line. In 1967 the pictured car with a 273/235 fell into E/SA at NHRA. In 1968 NHRA changed the cl***es putting the same car with the same 273/235 engine into I/SA.
Thanks, bro. Always wondered how they pulled that 308/Jet deal off .I did know they weren't offered from the factory, because they did not fit! Can you think of anyone else, with a different combo, who took advantage of this rule?

A few olds today with a back story. I used to watch these guys race all the time. They did real good. The short history story is here: http://bestride.com/news/entertainm...le-silhouette-hides-a-legendary-racing-secret
These photos that follow were taken from a youtube posted by member Dog_Patch in the Moonlighter thread. post #2960. Good find. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...romers-a-g-willys-resurrection.730747/page-99 Nelson Chevrolet Jim O'Connor Carter Automotive A/S Pontiac
This local racer was in the process of building this car when the 15 year rule ended the build. He bracket raced it for many years until the NHRA opened up Stock to some of the older cars again and Paul told me it was on his bucket list to race the car in NHRA Stock cl***. Not a Jr. Stocker, but it started out as one and I've always enjoyed seeing the car survive as a stock bodied race car after all those years. Cool car!
The biggest one that come to mind was the transmission issue. Hydro transmissions from trucks used in Chevy sedan deliveries and 4-speeds in any 57-61 Chevrolet.
LOL the Mopar peanut gallery has been heard from. Actually they are the FINALISTS all the Mopars have been eliminated LOL.
THAT was funny, an actual LOL!! Now for my quest of the day: I'm looking for a pic or what car was Richard Charbonneau's 1963 Plymouth. Said to be an aluminum front Max Wedge, ran AA/SA 1964-65, and then won A/SA at 66 Winternats. Any handy pics?? I'm finding all these rules to figure out why the Thunderbolt VANISHED after 1964 (ok, found that, the same 8.00 lb/cid rule, then others), but still cant figure why the 64 LWG Lightweight Gal (3750 lb, 427cid, 460 nhra rated) also seems to vanish after 1965. Strong combo, why doesnt it show up right up thru 1969? I even wondered if NHRA re-factored the 427HR- near as I can Gonkulate, the 427HR was "only" making 500-520hp in the Tbolt, but by late 65 it was making 590hp or so in the LWG. The LWG was turning both ET and MPH as good as the Tbolt of the year before, even though it was 500+ lb heavier. So I wonder if NHRA said "460hp aint high enough, how bout 500" or something like that.
The Thunderbolts did not totally vanish after 1964. Some got parked after the Mopar Hemis started dominating in S/S. In 1965 there was only S/S and S/SA cl*** putting the Thunderbolts up against the Mopar Hemis. Other Thunderbolts were still racing but wound up being butchered trying to mimic the altered wheelbase AFX Mopars. The 64 Lightweight Galaxies held their own in AA/S and AA/SA in 1964 and 1965. When the 66 Fairlanes with the medium riser 427 appeared, Ford racers moved on the newer body style. The hi-riser 427 stayed at its NHRA refactored horsepower of 450 through the 70's. Today it is refactored to 460 in S/S and only 420 in Stock.
That's pretty cool. I've been pretty lucky in getting pictures of the car as Kyle didn't have but a couple. Thank you and the Snyder brothers for sharing.
