I can't find my rule book and was needing to know what the tubing requirments are for a cage in a car running 10's? I have to order my tubing tomorow so I can do stuff this weekend. Plus it gives us another excuse to use our tubing bender, nice smooth mandrel bends sure are pretty!

For door cars the min tubing thickness is .118 mild steel I believe, BUT, purchase the heavier (.135 or something like that) as much of the .118/.120 comes out too thin to pass spec.

I'll double check tomorrow (my SFI doorcar book is at the office) but I think for 'moly it's .083 min.

buy the dom 1 3/4 .134 wall if you are doing a 6 or 8 point, if you are doing a cage ie, 10 or 12 point then you can use 1 5/8 dom .134 wall so it will sonic test to .118 in the bends. and you only need all of this to certify the chassis if you are going to run 9.99 or quicker . if not it is recomended basically . you have to have a roll bar at 11.90 i think and a cage at 10.99 along with other factors like firewall floor etc being changed. but what i am saying is if you dont certify as long as it is the right diamater it will pass tech. but remember your life could be at risk....

Thanks for all the replies. I don't plan on the car being any quicker than high 10s but I want the car to certify to 9.99. I want my ole turd to be as safe as possible no shortcuts anywere! We have the technolgy to go fast and be safe so I plan on using it!
    Thanks again,
