I had a four door the same color in 1969 that was not in as good of shape as that

  11. Yep. And probably will soon.
He’s working out a couple bugs.
Will need a water pump and he was working on the exhaust when I was there.
He removed the original muffler and tail pipe this evening

Bet he would ! I had one like it years ago, same color even. probably was that good when it was parked in a leaky corn crib and left to die. Outside was nice looking, but floors and trunk were shot. I moved it on down the line

  15. Not a find but it’s very nice.
He’s known about this car since he was a kid. Finally got a chance to buy it. He’s been doing maintenance work on it for his cousin over the years

I've never seen a 57 with the Belair style trim around the windows & not the rear fender Belair insert in the chrome! What trim model is it?

  18. I’m no tri 5 expert.
    I was thinking 210.

  19. I'd do as much as I could to salvage that original paint. A great "time-capsule" survivor!

  20. Yep. I think the base model was a 150.

  21. Well, it had a respay some time in the 60s and looked like a quality job.
A tree damaged a fender and some ancient looking filler in that spot. No holes drilled.
I’ll probably help him clean up what’s there as best we can. Maybe spot in a few places with lacquer.
Plans are a thorough cleaning and a floor mat.
    Then cruise it
He has a couple nice restored cars that he hardly ever drives so I think this one will stay this way for a while.

It’s a 210 post model. I say that because there are BelAir’s that are post as well vs the hardtop that many swear by.

A good mechanical once over, a few paint blends and touchups and a very thorough buffing, maybe a good used rear bumper center section and this thing is perfect.

Some day I'd love to start with something so nice and so complete instead of rusty $300 4 door shitboxes as starting points. Your buddy is living high and wide with this one.

  24. He’s looking for a better rear bumper.
I showed up while he was removing the exhaust. All the original hardware and hangers were there. They all unbolted and slid apart.
    Some guys luck.

That is one unmolested 57! Sure don’t see that very often. Similar to my 56 Ford before I started messing it up. :D
