The old Christy's Auto Salvage in Leavenworth KS is closing. They have quite a few old cars from the 1930's through the 1960's. The crusher is coming next week, so take advantage before all the cars are gone.(The crusher is delayed a week since they are back logged from last weeks flooding) They are open evenings and this weekend Saturday and Sunday May 19th and 20th. Bring your tools. They are located about 30 minutes from the KS speedway. I-70 to hwy 7/73 north to leavenworth. In leavenworth take the old hwy 92(spruce street) west, just on the west side of town. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME,I AM POSTING THIS FOR A FRIEND. You can call the owner for information. Randy 913-306-8826 (cell)

Why do all the good yards have to be a thousand miles away?

  4. I drove by and saw that they were clearing it out a few weeks back. My in-laws live near there. Had no info on it though. Always makes me sad when they say the crusher is coming. They had a lot of cool old cars, but no 58 Pontiacs.

Junkyard crawl? I called the guy and he says they're open from 5:00 'til dark, and you can bring your kids! Nobody lets you bring kids to this stuff anymore!

He's cool as hell, and has a lot of Packard stuff. $400 cars and $1500 cars, all makes. He says there's 10 acres or so of stuff from the 40s to the 60s/70s.

Call him and ask. He'd love to sell it all, and the decision to crush isn't his. Make him some offers!

He may call me later as I told him I'd be glad to post some more specific stuff for him in the For Sale section. We'll see.

I remember Rod and Custom did an article on the yard in the late 60's...showing a 36 roadster in the weeds, along with a lot of other neat stuff.

Man, I'd need to roll a lot of old ladies in the Target parking lot to afford THAT. Still, if I'd known that there were some '40 Ford trucks and stuff out there, I'd have jumped on it years ago!

A lot of it is probably still there.

I'd loe to see the article. You wouldn't happen to remember which issue, would you?

  12. I just scored a killer 40 ford axle & spindles & wishbone for $30- Theres still some 38 & up Fords & other models. Couple really nice panel deliverys. Other than that, it's mainly 38 & up truck cabs that look to be worth it. All the other cars were 4doors & super long. A ton of stuff was already marked sold. Carl Hagan

  13. Oh....only seen a couple pieces of any Model A sedans. I didn't see any A or T coupes at all. Carl Hagan

Huh... anyone know if there are any flatheads hanging out up there?

  16. Hey Kevin, while I was there last night, I seen a couple different flatheads. I didn't open any hoods on any cars though. The ones I seen where in trucks with the hoods off.

I thought his prices were great. Anyone doing any trailer relays to Shawnee Mission?? Carl Hagan

  19. Yeah, I'm going back tonight. Most of the people I seen there last night had trailers. I'm taking a truck over tonight. Carl Hagan

I'm needing a couple of '50 F1 and F2 pickup parts. Mainly needing a good straight hood - anyone going that can let me know if there's something worth taking the trip up there for?

I specifically asked about '48 - '53 F1s, and he said that he not only had them, but that he even had an F8!

If you head out, tell 'em you saw the post here. I called the guy the other day and told him I'd repost this anywhere he wanted to get the word out, and his wife called back and acted like I was going to charge them (which I wasn't)! She said they were "doing fine" and acted kind of like I was an A-Hole for wanting to help. Let 'em know their business came from here, and that I did actually do some good.

Hey, carl - when you go back, could you spy a look at the '59 & '60 Cadillacs for me? I'm looking for cruise control, autotronic eyes, AC stuff (vents & ducting, specifically), power windows (especially power vent windows) and a power trunk pulldown (and some 2-door quarters if there's any okay ones) for my '60. I know he's got them out there, but not sure what shape they're in, nor if the parts I'm looking for are there.

I may load up the kids and take 'em this weekend, but am not sure if I'll get a chance to go yet.

Thanks, Carl (or whoever heads out there next that happens to see what I'm looking for)!!

Hey, If anyone will, I need the rear hubs for a '40-8 Ford banjo rear end. The backing plates and drums wouldn't hurt either.

Man, it's too bad that dude didn't have an email address - his wife did, but was reluctant to give it out...

She came across as harsh, but they seem like real nice people.

I just got back from the yard a little while ago. Fuck that was fun!! Some of cars have been sitting there for decades! A few Model A’s but mostly stuff from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s plus buses and trailers stuffed full of who knows what! You name it; it was there, including a few somewhat rare cars. A lot of the cars weren’t really salvageable but it was still fun to see them all. I can’t believe all those cars and trucks are going to be crushed. Damn just the number of flathead engines would take weeks to pull!!

The story I was told was the old man died, left one kid the cars and one kid the land. A few years go by and the kid with the land decides to sell to a developer and is forcing the salvage yard to liquidate. It just sucks!
