As I get older, I realize some cars don't have to be modified to be cool.

59/60 Chevy, any of them, are my favorite car ever built.

I read that '59 was the first year for factory installed 4 speeds for "full size" Chevrolets. I'd say odds are slim that is a factory 348-tri power 4 speed car... that would really be something if it was.

Think mid/late 57, Chevrolet made T-10's available overcounter and for dealer installs.

the 59 here has a small block fan shroud on it, may be a put together car? still cool though

  14. It’s not originally a tri power according to the owner.
    But I’d drive it.

That Biscayne also has an Impala interior. But still a great car.

Neighbor behind us when I was a kid bought a new 59 Impala 348, 3x2, 4 speed car. White w/ red interior, factory skirts, and dual rear mount antennas. His daily driver was a 37 Chevy coupe with a 394 Olds and 4 speed. The Impala stayed in his garage all the time and was seldom driven. I remember looking at it one time around 1970 and it still had less than 20K miles on it at that time. He told me there were a lot more 59's around with the 3x2 348 than you'd think, and that the really rare engine in a full size 59 was the fuel injected 283. He was a Chevy dealership mechanic from the mid 50's to the early 60's, and said he never saw but one 59 with the FI 283 in the entire time he worked there.

And even though I've never liked them, it needs the scrawny but "correct looking" earlier 4 speed shifter, often called the "spaghetti" shifter.

  18. You stumped me for a moment with that "Biscuit-Can".

Around here, that would be called a "Bis-Quick"!

And if it caught fire it would be a burnt "Bis-Quick".

  26. Got a friend that needs help assembling a vette. Factory EFI.
He has a complete extra set up. I joked about helping him finish the car for the EFI.
He thought a second and gave me a maybe.

  27. I was a senior in high school in '59. Every guy in town with a job had a 335 h.p. 348 4 speed. They ran them 4 abreast at Lions every Sat. night. Got really boring watching 4 cars cross the finish line side by side. Over and over and over..........
