Damn you make that chop look easy thanks Kev

  7. Greg & Kev, I recall watching this chop back in 09 when I first joined the HAMB and was stoked with your workmanship. Always wondered what ever became of it and if it was ever finished. Glad to see someone brought it back up. Had to go through all 14 pages for a refresher course.

  8. Greg wants the car to be SCTA legal so we built this cage. We tried to tuck it up out of sight as much as possible. For the body to be removable it had to have 1/4" plates that sandwich the floor. Tubing is 1 5/8" x .134 wall. It is mig welded.

You want to talk about emotional extremes.
1st, cutting up a perfectly good Henry 5 window.
2nd, you are doing such a great job of making this car a work of art.
3rd, I am so jealous it doesn't belong to me.
4th I want to do another project, and it will be a 34 5 window, with a chopped top.
5th Gotta sell one of my toy to do this.

Kev I hope you realize you are creating something special.....I'm jealous, did I say that already?????????

Many people have been asking me for an update on my coupe. It hasn't changed much from the last pictures. I have recessed the firewall and started to fab in the old Ansen swing petal set-up. I am also figuring out the steering in the process. All of this has changed from the last time I built it because of the engine set-back and it now being un-channeled.
The last couple years of my life have been busy with work and divorce. I am looking to build a garage on some property I bought and am currently working on the 34 in a very old carport on the property.
This forum has been a real motivation for me to get it back on the road. I really miss driving it. I am still looking for a decent 34 Grille, and a 9 inch third member for it. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Kev & Greg Just have to bump this to the top because it is the inspiration for my 34 5 window. Not sure about laying the windshield back, lot of work. Sure could use your expertese in the chop.....Dan

I spent an hour or so revisiting this thread.

Giving it a bump so everyone can enjoy it once more.

    Any progress?

Not much progress has been made. I have too many priojects. 57 Ranchero, 57 Chevy Conv, 59 Ford F250, and my daily driver 66 El Camino. Last weekend I straightened the quarters on the 34 and am hanging some hinges, converting the rumble seat into a trunk lid. Using 55 Chevy station wagon tailgate window hinges.
