I’m a retired gas compression engineering tech. While watching TV last night I see a Shell Oil commercial for nitrogen enriched fuel. Like a said I was in engineering not chemistry, but I know nitrogen is an inert gas. I used Nitrogen on a daily basis to purge explosive natural gas, hydrogen, and oxygen from equipment. Nitrogen is a gas and stored under pressure in vessels and I don’t have one in my car. Liquid nitrogen is minus 320 degrees F. I don’t have a freezer in my car so do these jerks know something I don’t? I know it’s used in tires because air is a combination of gases and nitrogen is pure and therefore not as subject to temp changes.

Clue me in if there is any truth to this guestionable advertizing.

I consider that corporate ****er talk to get you to hand over more money to them for no good reason.

And don't buy the more expensive higher octane stuff either if your rides don't need it. Nothing but a waste of money if there ever was one.

I saw the ads too. It's suppose to "clean off engine deposits". I really don't see that happening. To me gasoline is gasoline. And right now, the cheaper the better.

Nitro-fresh super-hype. The Shell station by my shop is $0.38 per gallon more expensive than the Arco across the street. Must be working, though. They still have some customers.

When I saw that add, I thought nitrogen was a gas and cannot be put in a liquid. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb wrench turner.

I`ve had that argument about premium fuel for decades now with my brother in law,no telling how much money he has wasted over the years. But he is a stubborn well off farmer,no telling him anything. The only thing he will agree with me on is the fact is he don`t know how to rebuild or repair an engine of any type.

I thought most of the enriching went on in the boardrooms...
