  1. An email I got today;
    New Mexico Motor Tour
    June 6-8
    Gallup, NM to Tucumcari, NM
    This annual event organized by the New Mexico Route 66 Association can draw 150 vintage vehicles for a drive across the state on the old Mother Road. The Motor Tour is not a race, as participants are urged to stop wherever they want, explore, take pictures and enjoy. It is three days traveling through some of the most beautiful scenery in the southwest, fun for both participants and spectators.

    s many as 150 vehicles are expected to participate in the Route 66 Motor Tour, an annual event organized by the New Mexico Route 66 Association, June 6-8, 2013. They will travel New Mexico, from Gallup to Tucumcari, showcasing the Mother Road and the wonderful communities it passes through.

    The tour begins in Gallup and follows the pre-1937 southern alignment through Los Lunas. Many of the motor tourists travel in a group, stopping now and then to see the sites, but participants are free to stop wherever they want. A turn-by-turn travel guide and schedule are provided.
    Saturday includes a visit to the Route 66 Auto Museum, the Wheels on 66 Festival, a banquet with awards and raffle prizes and, if you’re not too worn out, a concert at Rockabilly on the Route.
    The Motor Tour is not a race, as participants are urged to stop wherever they want, explore, take pictures and enjoy. Spend three days traveling through some of the most beautiful scenery in the southwest.

    I'm planning on driving over for the Tucumcari festivities on Saturday...Looks like a pretty good venue from the website.
