Wonder if the hotels and casinos in Bendover will give you the same deal.

Running this race this late is always iffy on the salt. Don't know why they don't run it like the first weekend of september. Cooler than august but usually still dry.

The water only needs to be a few inches deep to look like that at the end of the road. we've been hearing it's closer to 10 inches lately.

The track area is "higher ground" though.

There were some interesting descriptions passed around in email back in early September when the track was being prepared for the BUB motorcycle meet.
The prep crew coming in to the end of the road was described as looking like a fleet of ships because the water was 8 to 10 inches deep at the road access.

We were dissappointed in the course during speedweek but at least we got to make some passes. I feel for those who were waiting to make their runs during September and October. We have to wait a year between our runs but this means that some competitors will have had to wait nearly two years.

Maybe it's time to start BOAT classes! Like "swamp buggies."
Ah well; here's hoping for better conditions next year.

Dave: I have been sitting hear ready to gas up my pickup to head that way with the modified and the race bike, now i guess i'll have to look for water skies for them. The only good thing is, i won't have to buy any of that over priced gas to get there.I hope it dry's out by next august. You going next year, or is it to early to make that decision?.Bill

Denise: That picture looks unreal. Never have seen one ( the salt ) like that, but it tell's the tail. You should have brought a boat.

Ya it has been raining here off and on all week. I was looking forward to going out there as I missed speedweek this year. My daughter will be bummed, she goes to the World Finals with me because it's cooler than august. Here she is a couple of years ago in the So-cal belly tank.

Bill, as you probably already know, North of '49 was not going to be able to go the Finals anyway. (waiting for new engine)

So .. maybe 2006 will be the charm. If things work right, hope to be there!
