Technical No code on rear end on GM 5 lug - how to identify?

I need to verify my rear end carrier before I pick up the replacement parts.

My 52 Chevy truck currently has a 2.41 posi set up on a 4-link with air ride. I have no idea where the rear end came from and it doesn't have any codes on the outside beside a "D" which I think means Dana.

I'm willing to bet it's around an 80-81 model. Meaning, 28 spline, 8.5-inch carrier. But, I need to verify before I buy the replacement barrier and gears.

How do I do this? Do I just open it out and measure and count teeth?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Here's a shot of the frame, btw. It's been back on the road 2 years now. It has a 350 TBI with 700R4 so I need to update the gearing into the mid 3s.

    2.41:1?

    Sounds like a mid-70's 10-bolt.

Is there any evidence that there were a pair of eyelets on the pumpkin, cast in, for a pair of upper control arms?

If no, then my guess would be Nova, maybe Camaro.

Going up from there will mean a carrier change.

If you have a moment, post a picture of the rear-end cover.
