Hey all, I figured I'd introduce myself. I'm new to (this) forum and have been lurking around for awhile. I'm a young married dude fresh out of college with a full time job, paying off loans and serving in the Army Reserve (can I get a hooah?) and looking for a project to work on. I've been daily driving a '93 5.0 Mustang since I was 15 and love it, but I've always wanted something older to beat on. I'm looking at 63-64 Ford Fairlane/Galaxie's. I've saved some cash up and been perusing Craigslist and Ebay since the late summer (not much else to do when stuck in VA for extended training) and have a good idea of what I'm looking for. I've been out to look at one 63 Fairlane Sports Coupe, but thing was a rust bucket, despite what the dude was telling me, so I passed on it. I've been in contact with another guy with a 63 Fairlane w/289, 4sp fiberglass teardrop hood, fog lamp delete, very Thunderbolt-esk. The owner does body work for a living and it is in a pre-painting stage, with finished layers of ppg primer. Does anyone have some tips on looking at some of these older Fords? I know to check the torque boxes, fender rust, floor pans, etc... what else? It's manual steering, manual brakes, single reservoir brakes (yikes). I plan on daily driving this mo' frappe, hitting the track, doing burnouts, and road tripping with my wife. I also live in Baltimore without a garage, so it's going to be a rolling resto. I plan on buying a heavy duty all-weather car cover with cord locks. Thanks in advance for any advice - Casey
