That's why you can get away with those seats and the base. With a decent chop you'd be hitting your head on the roof.

On my car, I have all the legroom I need. I am 5’ 10” and have about 2 inches of additional rearward adjustment on the Vette buckets. I prefer the looks of an angled toeboard and my pedals are right where I need them to be. I was just illustrating gaining legroom for the OP.

I'm 6ft and my 30 pickup is kinda tight so I made a seat back out of 1/2 in plywood and cut out where the middle of your back goes. put some furniture webbing on the back. that allowed for another 1/2 in of padding without making the back thicker. quite comfortable 20221218_153612.jpg 20221218_153709.jpg

You've got a keen sense for the obvious.

Well here's my two bits, my 34 pickup is dropped over the frame (home built) 3-1/2" leg room is space, but after trying many seat ideas this is what I ended up with. A third row seat from a 2000 Ford Expedition, took the back off, removed the inner structure, cut the foam down about 2" or a bit more, glued the foam to thin plywood. Stapled the cover check in place, cut the excess off. I put the bottom against the back of the cab. Made mount brackets to raise the back 6" and the front 7" , and mounted some bars on the factory seat frame, attached the back to the rear of the cab, I'm happy with it, I'm 5'10 @ 155 lbs , any it's tight but it feels good, actually better then the 4 other ideas I had. It's just wide enough that the doors closed nice, and the lower back feels good sitting in it. Just a thought . Any questions give a pm . Good luck

    What can I say, it's a gift. ;)

I just think it's kind of good to know these things before someone goes off on a spree looking for old theater seats. BTW, how well do you expect they'd hold up in a crash?

    Read this and thought...
man, I don't remember any problem with my '34 pickup..
at 6'1" I drove it a lot and one round trip from Oregon to L.A.
the only negative was the 100 degrees through Sacramento.
Well, reality just hit me and I realized THAT I was in my 40's...
Fast forward ..and now in my 70's with a '34 Dodge PU
I have to say YEP they're tight and, 'You feel like a frog on a lily pad'
It'll never be MY Daily Driver...
Good luck sorting out your seating (Thin that back cushion as suggested)
Keep having fun with the old Rods never give up, Jonny...

Maybe the same way they held up when someone literally **** their pants at a scary movie in the theater.....Maybe comfy for a bit, but dayyum those sit high!

At the same time you plan your builds chop & channel…you should be figuring out your seating!
If you don’t, you might not be able to drive it very far comfortably. Lots of cool cars suffer from this dilemma.
