Two 52 Buick grills cut up to make one. Turned out great. Really happy just spending about Three hundred bucks for the grill. I’m still keeping the 52 grill for a re chrome someday when I have money to burn.

theres a video on YouTube that shows how to copper plate and then nickel plate(have to copper plate first si the nickel will stick), you would have to scale it up a little and then figure how to deal with the chems at the end. you also would be responsible for all polishing pre dip, i thought it was pretty cool, planned to do it with some smaller parts. the guys doing it with coins but you could do it larger scale im sure

And as someone who fights aftermarket fit all the time, nothing fits like the original.

I've been saving for a while and almost have enough to do my Cadillac grill.

  8. Nice solution! Looks great.

  9. After reading through the posts here I will continue to save for my bumpers, grille, front and rear hood and trunk emblems, and door handles. Nothing beats real chrome and with the Korean War in full swing when my '51 Shoe Box was made everything needs replaced. Next Spring when I have the bodywork done and the car painted It will deserve chrome and get it as time and allowances permit. Silver paint looks OK, better than body color or primer but still isn't real chrome. That is the problem with a lot of early Detroit Iron with the War ongoing chrome was needed for the war effort and a lot of early "50's cars were affected. Good looking even re-chrome candidates are hard to come by so to the aftermarket we go and hope for the best fit.
