thats too bad it seemed to be going in the right direction finally after mustang lawn mowers and indy car paint striper (WTF!) the bronco the chevy custom were what it should have been about

  2. I personally liked the dragster built into a hot dog cart myself... and the deisel truck trike...
    Sam.

  3. I wonder if they'll find a lookalike and replace him like in that off season of Dukes of Hazzard with Vance and COY instead of Bo and Luke Duke?haha

  4. I never cared for MG'S-- JJ'S "TV attitude"-BUT I do not know what HE is "Really" like.........Having said that- I think that IF the decision to make the episode"OLD SCHOOL BUILD"-[WAS] his idea-then I would have to rethink my opinion of the man.
The friction between him and the other TV prick seems real but who knows...If its like it seems then I think the direction that episode would have taken them in would have been an IMPROVEMENT, to my way of thinking.
Given this info- I would hope some other network could start there and make a better show out of what MG could have become.... [IMG]

  5. Look at it this way... maybe the "wannabe's" are starting to lose interest finally, and are gonna go back to the seventies, now that Starsky and Hutch is the current trend instead of Oceans Eleven. That could be a good thing. I like alot of the work I've seen from Mr. James, but I haven't seen the Chevy episode yet. This could be just the beginning..

  6. DC is gonna realize mistakes were made that are gonna need to be ammended because they are gonna lose a hella lot of viewers. They should give Jesse his own show and forget Beers. Hes gotta come back. I hope that Chevy epsiode was the beginning of good shows to come.

  9. I know of a fact, that a few weeks before this shit happened. discovery signed another 2 seasons with JJ and MG.
Thats another 40 builds, hopefully some better ones than the wood chipper or that Nut shaker.

Discovery channel sucked ass before they aired Motorcycle mainia and some of that other shit. I mean, i wouldnt even bother fliping to that channel, if it wasnt for those hand built rides.
The biggest thing Discovery channel aired, was King Tut, and some ancient Dinosaurs shit!

Thats some f*cked up shit, im sure they'll get Orange County Choppers to try to build these things..Now thats some funny shit!!

I'm sure JJ is bound to this production contractualy. It's gonna be interesting to see if he breeches the contract based on principle or he if sucks it up. Love him or hate him, somthin' tells me he doesn't give shit.

HYPE,... [IMG]hype,...,hype is a crazy thing....

funny,,,if my aSS was plastered all over TV and on autozone commercials(even on the SPANISH CHANNEL),and selling replicas of my cars at walmart, toolboxes ,rednecks with shirts &stickers and other trinkets showing my shitboxes and making much money,,i believe that the last thing i would do would be to post a thread on a message board saying im GIVING IT UP,,????? "im quiting because they wont show my shirts"

pretty lame.....i know dude has the tools,machines,resources,etc...to out build me,,,so im not going there..but pretty chickenshit for a PROFESSIONAL,,shoulda dicussed it with the money providers before takin it out in public..

i dont live in his world,.,nor does he live in mine...my life is filled with circumstances that i dont AGREE with 100%......but i try to treat people that i do buisness with better than i want to be treated....

i gotta say,i met one of the dudes that work at jesse's shop{bill, the dude that was on the 5.0 to lawnmower build}and i gotta say,he was pretty straight up about how adamant jesse wanted that show to be,{no cheesey bullshit}and one thing he said is,you don't wanna step on jesse's dick, cause he'll say fuck it in a heart beat and say fuck the money...kinda admire him for that...i mean lets face it,yes he's become somewhat mainstream, but he's earned that right marching to his own beat for so long in my opinion....

I was just checking out the DC site to see whats up with all this stuff and the Vanillago-rilla posted a responce he got from Thom Beers, here goes:

    Jesse,
I understand that you aren't happy with our decision to be a bit more
stringent with wardrobe in the garage. I'm sorry, I meant to talk to
    you
about this before I left, but you had surgery and I was caught up with
    last
minute arrangements before my vacation. It's no excuse, I really should
    have
had that conversation with you. In any case, here's what I was
    thinking:
Several weeks ago, I came into the garage on Hilde's show and found
    three
team members wearing West Coast Choppers shirts. It looked like a big
fu cking WCC commercial and I wasn't happy about it, it was "over the
    top".
We've had guidelines for wardrobe in place for sometime, which is no
    shirts
with corporate logos, no dot.com's, no phone numbers. I wanted the guys
    to
wear their own clothes, to have their own identity. This was key to the
editorial integrity of the show. Remember our conversations about how
    dumb
the Junkyard Wars jumpsuits were. That's the same way I felt when I
    walked
in the Garage that day and saw almost the entire team in West Coast
    Choppers
uniforms. I have always supported you wearing West Coast Choppers'
    merch.
That's who you are, and I will continue to support it. But that's not
    who
the other members of the team are...they are "Monster Garage" mechanics
    and
fabricators. We are also about to start incorporating Monster Garage
    shirts
into the show, but even those will be limited to only one team member
    a
day. Any more would look just as cheesy, and neither of us want that.
Regarding cars going to West Coast Choppers, that's another issue. I'm
    just
tired of Alex and the guys taking that part of their job "for
granted"...just send it to West Coast Choppers, they'll take care of it!
    I'm
also still burning from Alex telling me that the R.C. Car couldn't be
    fixed
at West Coast Choppers in time for the Radio Shack promotion. Alex said
    it
couldn't be done in 11 days! That was total ********. I had the car
    picked
up and fixed in four days. I don't take "stiffing" Discovery lightly,
    and I
refuse to have our garage manager decide whether or not to take on the
    task
based on conversations at West Coast Choppers. So I've asked the guys
    to
start thinking for themselves, to take responsibility for their actions
    and
not just "hand it off to WCC". Remember, this is my relationship with
Discovery that's at stake, not West Coast Choppers, and I need to be in
control of that relationship and not at the mercy of our garage
    manager.
Jesse, none of this is worth getting this upset about. Boycotting
    production
does neither of us any good. Let's talk when I get back on Saturday
    and
we'll work this out. And again, I apologize for not talking to you
    about
    these issues before I left.
    Sincerely,
    Thom

This somehow reminds me of the drama 'created' on the show.

Considering how actors/musicians and corporations have been trying to get our attention these days, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a hype/buzz generating concept drummed up by the suits at Discovery.

I'm not buying it that discovery would allow a confidential e-mail to be posted like that. Unless they posted it. Get my drift? [IMG]

Perhaps... but that sounds a little ridicious to make a scene like this to try and promote the show.

Jessie was cool before Motorcycle Mania and he'll be cool (as long as he keeps working in a garage) long after it's over.

I don't like the over commercialization any more than the rest of you but the guy was in every cool biker mag made WAY before the Discovery Channel got a hold of him. He was going to be famous like it or not, with or without cable TV.

I have stacks of old mags from the early nineties featuring his bikes. You could literally see his star rising through the issues - getting better and better every year. If he put the same energy into cars he'd set the car industry on it's ear too.

And we'd still hate him for it...

He will have no trouble finding a new gig, Beers might want to log on to Monster.com though....

Maybe all of our letters to DC about the old school build, pissed off Thom Beers because it wasn't his idea...If Jesse is the mastermind behind that build, maybe Thom realized what a dumbass he is for not having more builds like that. Most everyone on here enjoyed the chevy build, and now we find out who was responsible for it...Thom Beers is just a cry baby it seems to me...

Well the only thing I would add to all this is my 4 year old loves to watch JJ on tv and he gets excited when he sees his 54 on the autozone commercials. If nothing else ever came of all these shows atleast my kid is finding a style he likes even at 4. We all have our own hero's of the custom and if what is shown of JJ is really true I don't mind my kid being a fan. I watched the tail end of the MG across america episode last night. Jesse talked to the kids with respected and even came across with a couple of life lessons to boot. I know that sometimes these things are scripted but if it was or not my kid saw it and maybe took something away from it. As far as the WCC shirts are concerned two things 1. I seriously doubt that a person on the show wearing one is going to be more advertisement than showing Jesse himself on the show, it is well publicised what he does and as far as that goes you can now by WCC apperal at WAL-MART, WCC has transended the cheesey subliminal tv spot. 2. WCC affiliation was imperative when the show started, Jesse is what got peoples attention and what keep it going through the stupid episodes (what the fuck a PT Cruser wood chipper...how fuck'n stupid). Anyway American Hot Rod and American Chopper is nothing more than an hour long comercial for Boyd and Paul why shouldn't Jesse get the same benifit. Just my take on it I could be wrong and often I am.

    Roll'n
