How is a guy supposed to be OldBlue53 without an old blue 53? Sold the 53 Chevy and gave all the money to my daughter to help her get going on her first year at college. Sad to see it go after owning it for so many years but the dkids education is more important. Going to hit the digger hard now and hope to be able to go down the track at a couple of events this year. Bought myself an old ford pickup truck to run around to the shows.
Yeah, you done good,Dad. I sold a 40 coupe years ago for the same reason. I'd like to still have the 40,but my daughter now makes 4X what I make in a year, just glad I could help her a little.
Yep, cars come and go but kids are forever. You did the right thing and still have a few other toys to heal the hurt a little. Don
Good man bro, always more cars, only one daughters education at stake. Proud of ya! Good karma will bring some good carma. ~sololobo~
You do what you have to do. We had two weddings and two college graduations in 18 months to pay for. Sold the bigger house with 4 acres and a 40 x 60 shop and bought a smaller home on 1/2 acre with a 24x30 shop. At least we got out of debt and got through it. Dave Ramsey would have been so proud.
I've been telling my son two things since he was in 5th grade: He's going to college. He's paying for it himself, just like I did in the late '90s. At least two jobs at any given time (and sometimes three), full-load of courses (most semesters), Full-time warehouse job in the summer plus working lunches and weekends at restaurants, and i graduated without a dime in student debt. Everyone is different... but mine is gonna make his way in life like I did. An ***-kicking work ethic isn't the worst thing a kid can learn in college. -Brad
My kids call my 64 Belair "old blue". I say it is (part of) their college fund. Keep moving forward, be proud.
Yesterday would have been my late son's 40th birthday. Would sell my car in a minute if it would bring him back. You made the right choice.
