I plan on selling all my crap including my avatar when I need to take care of me and my bride when I can’t take care of us. That being said, I’m hopping for top dollar for my avatar, so you ain’t getting no deals

"The cars of the Socs symbolize their material wealth, their upward mobility, and the many advantages they have over the greasers. Cherry Valance drives a red Corvette Sting Ray and Randy Adderson drives a blue Mustang. Meanwhile, Darry, who works two jobs, drives a nondescript Ford."

You gotta try harder man. The Outsiders. The Socs and the Greasers. Have another go..........:D:D:D

No idea who the "Scos" are, if they can afford a $52,000 Coupe it has no effect on my life whatsoever.

  7. ...regarding those 25 louver hoods,...how much would a repro 25 louver cost?...how many could a guy have reproe'd for $6000?
...it wouldn't be a real Henry hood, but it'd still be the "cooler" hood,...and how many people would notice, or know it's not a 32 hood,..or care?

Lol. This thread is entertaining as hell.
If you build your own cars then the car is too much money, 1932 Ford or not. No money to be made down the road.
If you pay a shop for your creation then these type of cars get you on the road sooner and you make it your own over time. That was an asking price before negotiations.
20150925_142134.jpg Do nice '32 Fords sell high? Whether you dig them or not, absolutely!
I just sold a fenderless steel 3W for very close to that. Didn't last long.

Yeah this is amusing in an aggravating way. I don't think some of the commenters are distinguishing between steel cars or fiberglass cars. I had a 40 coupe, a model A and finally a chopped steel deuce coupe.
Each to his own and I like a Model A coupe, they are cute but not the ideal body style of the 1932 Ford. Some of the animosity towards deuces is because they are perceived to be high dollar cars. In some cases they are, or they can be built economically too, although that is more difficult.
I bought mine in 1994 and scrounged parts and got it on the road in 2005. It is not high dollar but I don't think you can build a nice car for less than 35k.
Ok that's all for my rant. Be kind and if you really want a deuce, go get one.

I think the price is fair, But that is just my opinion. The main reason most guys will say he is out of line on his price is they can't afford it. Sure you could build one cheaper yourself, But not everyone wants or has the skill to build a car like this themself. To have this car built from the ground up by a good shop would probably be 100K easy. Here is what I think is funny about everyone saying that the price is too much. Seven out of 10 of them are making payments and driving a daily throw away that cost this much or more. So who is smarter here? The guy who pays 50K for this original steel bodied 32 coupe that will most likely go up in value to drive to work? Or the guy who pays 50K for the mostly made in china and Mexico throw away pickup he drives to work? I don't know about you guys but it is a no brainer for me. Just my 2 cents

You make a very good point about over-priced modern trucks. Not sure you can call them "pick-ups" because very few people are going to put a load of gravel or firewood in the back of a $60K vehicle, especially if it's not paid for. However, whether or not a '32 is currently worth $50,000.00 or not now, I wouldn't plan on it holding that value. Hotrodders are aging and, in reality, probably declining in number faster than new blood is attracted to our passion. 1932 Fords are not declining in number and may be increasing with the advent of reproduction steel and fiberglass bodies. Supply and demand always win and I think the number of folks who want a '32 but don't have a '32 is going to go down, reducing demand and there reducing the price. Great cars, an old men's dream, but not a good financial investment.
But, then again, not many of us are in it for financial rewards.

I sold this 2 years ago. All henry steel..... 350 / T5. Lots of quality parts... took me 6 months to get 37k... I started at 50k. If it were faded black paint with a worn out interior and I probably would have got the 50k.....

I have never bought a car on payments. We save up, buy a car new (or used) and then drive it into the ground. Routine maintenance and saving all the time. The current vehicles are at 7 and 13 years. Still working fine, knock on wood. For transportation, I care about safety and reliablility, not fashion. Boring, but prudent. The vehicles that I care about their appearance are 56 and 89 years old.

I agree with this pov. I think you're currently seeing it in the wood boat market. Not that certain wood boats aren't still trading for huge sums, some are. But in general terms the bottom is starting to fall out of the market due to the aging and passing of the generations that revered those boats. (Part of it is that upkeep on a wood boat is wayyyyy more of a pita than most cars...) Younger folks appreciate the beauty of them, and love seeing one, but they're smart enough not to buy a boat that needs a complete refinish every 7-10 years at either a large cost, or tremendous amount of work.

I do think cars will follow a similar pattern eventually. There will always be certain cars that hold up, but as a whole the vintage car market may see some slippage sooner than later.

  23. That’s the perfect car the big shops love to build.
And yes, a pick of that in a shed covered in dust could have added 10% to the price.

  24. All but one in my yard is either a wreck I built it something drug out of a yard/scrap yard.
I will finance the wreck and pay the bank a small amount of interest to use their money.
But a high end shop or customer buying a 30k up “project” is the way to go for those customers. These guys build as a hobby, not as an investment. You lose less money by building a better car to begin with and get it completed faster.
you can purchase this 32 discussed here for less than what some guys spend on golf of fuel for their plane or boat a year.

Four page in and I had to go back to the original link, I never noticed the car was covered in dust, yard and garage must be the focus of his cleaning interest.

Yeah, when you're asking north of $50k for a car, it's a good idea to at least wipe it down.....

There have been threads like this before here about '32 Fords. Seems like the '32s always bring out the drama. The beat goes on and on...

By the way, this cat owns a '32 Ford and he likes it.

  30. Over the years Rootlib made several attempts at reproducing the 25 louver hood sides, the first one had 25 louvers but they were not done to match Henry's, all the louvers were open and all the louvers were exactly like every other hood they reproduced.

For years that's all they offered and the still do.

Then about 10 years ago they tried again with a entirely new side panels and they were the open style like Henry's but again all 25 louvers were open and when the hood was closed the rear 2 louvers tried to collapse.

They were also all the same length unlike Henry's.

Within the last few years they have designed new side panels and they hit a home run, 23 of the louvers are wide like the original letting more air escape the engine compartment and the front and rear louvers are dummy's keeping the stiffness and none of the louvers try to collapse, in addition the first 2 louvers (the dummy and the open one are shorter to avoid the hood latch.

They did their homework and got the hood sides correct, the side panels are available for $825.00 a pair. HRP

If I ever build another Deuce I will use the hood sides above, I can't afford the real thing anymore. HRP
