    Had a similar issue with new taillights on a 40. Found that when they were built the pieces were painted prior to final ***y. the socket attachment to the taillight bucket lacked continuity-they were riveted together. Just drilled a small hole and ran a small sheet metal screw between them for contact. Had it again on a 40 woody taillight recently. Now I ck em all with an OHM meter prior to installing.

    GROUND. GROUND. GROUND. Times 2 in a gl*** car. Once I got my old T, with a designated ground for EVERYTHING, all sorts of cool things happened. Head lights were brighter. She started quicker. Gauges lite up and worked better. Etc.

    Try it. You've got nothing to lose.
