Well I've been couped up in the house for the past 3 days with this ice crap... can't get to the shop to work on the coupe and if I did make it to the shop I'd never get it heated up to work!! Rained and iced for a day and a half. Had 2" on my truck and couldn't even budge the door much less the handle!!

This is the third January in a row we've had ice buildup like this. Not as bad as last year or the year before though.

    Anyway, thought I'd share.

similar, but not as bad here, couped up yesterday afternoon and this morning. Just drove to the Greyhound place down the road to ship some parts, they were closed because of the ice.

The temperature is slowly creeping up though, going to try to do some work soon.. lot's of grinding on tool steel to make dies from my louver press.

My wife is staying with my parents in Wylie while she does some contract work in Garland. She keeps calling and bitching about how cold it is there and I keep rubbing it in about how it is 80 degrees here. We just moved here to Florida a month ago and I know I will move back to Texas someday, but it sure is nice in the winter!

Ice is nasty, winter sucks we are already at the season average for snow here in S.E. Michigan and we have two or three months to go.

It's not that it's too cold here in Texas, I grew up way North and was used to the cold, it's just the changes are killer.. Last friday it was 79, this morning it was low 20s, Saturday we're expecting 70s again.. it's day to day on the temperature here.

I'd much rather deal with a few days of ice, and the occasional wandering tornado, than put up with California's nonsense. I can always visit if I really need to see a beach or feel the need for 70 degree weather in January...!:)

Monday was a "company down day" after Noon, with pay, and Tuesday was waaay too slick to drive around here with the amateur ice drivers, so it, too, was a paid down day. This morning, it was pretty decent out at 6 am, so off to work I went. No sweat. I grew up in the Rockies, and what's on the streets is a normal January day in Colorado, but 98% of the locals have zero clue how to drive on slick surfaces. It's either 10 mph or 50 mph, both causing wrecks and headaches.

Since there is no school, the boys have been out earning their allowance, busting ice from the driveway. The ice is two to three inches thick, with snow atop that!

I had a thought as to how we could warm up. How about getting Al Gore to stop by and we could take turns beating the crap out of him over this global warming thing. It's nice to think he's making millions putting down a carbon footprint the size of a small town while we are hearing that another Ice Age might be just beginning. Only in America.:mad:

Got snow to the tune of 4" here on Long Island earlier in the day, turned to rain about 9 AM. Rained very hard for about an hour, been mostly a heavy drizzle since then. Now we got a good fog going and its around 40. Supposed to drop down to 23 tonight, Thursday morning's commute might be very interesting.

Mr. Gore needs a good old fashioned pimp-slapping to get his head out of his ass. When I can plant a palm tree by my pool I'll buy into the GW line of shit.

Geez... ya pussy! I've been out and running around in this stuff almost non-stop. And this isn't even bad! Worst thing about it is that I have to get up and drive Momma Gozt to work and then go back and pick her up.

Sheesh, and this isn't even bad! In Anchorage the busses have chains on them that hydraulically drop down against the tire, and a little wheels spin throwing a short (12") chain in front and under the tires.

I'm only driving a 2 wheel drive truck and having a blast watching the morons in the 4x SUVs and trucks lose traction and control.

I was going to offer to help, but now I'm not sure. Perhaps being couped up alone for the last 3 days has gotten to you....

Not only no work, but no travel for me!

Here is a picture of my truck when I drove in the ice and snow a few years ago and went head to head with an 18 wheeler on I35 at 70MPH ...

For years folks have poked fun at us southerners that we get a little snow and can't drive,,,most of the time when that happens we got an inch or two of black ice uner that snow.

I feel for you guys,,,winter sucks! HRP

Man... hope you're okay after that one.

    But...

70mph in the ice and snow? Darwin was after one of you... either you or the truck driver. Looks like he missed, but not completely.
