How you all doin? Im new to all this chat stuff so take it easy on the FNG. I found you guys in ask.... .com cause Im tryn to find out if any one out there has ever slammed a 1960-63 1/2 falcon ranchero with a fourlink and air shocks And I mean slammed. Like having to cut out the bed. Anyways I got a 1960 ranch thats been going on year 7 as a project, and it keeps gettn deeper and deeper. I love my truck and it was a blast to drive for the little amount of time I drove it and Im dieing to do some big burn outs in this bad boy. Its got a 12 second 302 (so they say) a borg warner 5 speed, granada disk brakes in the front, continental disk brakes in the back with a 9 inch me and my pops narrowed down, and a home made four link. Hope to get some helpfull hints as well as give um.
I dont really know how your suppose to rate your posts so I figured if it was important to me it was worth three stars go figure? Anyhow we just cut the whole bed out of my Falcon Ranchero along with the uni-body rear frame rails to make room for some 15x 10s we ( me and my pops) made a jig to bend some 2x3 11 gauge rectangular tubing to replace the old frame rails. The tubing kinked on to of the three bends and now its gonna take some welding and grinding ton make them right. Dont mean to bore you but I figured out a way to slam the **** out my falcon ranchero thats pretty cool with out having the coil overs stick out the bed if your interested or bored I can send you some picks( Im sure some ones done it before but I aint seen it on a falcon.
Sorry for taking so long to reply but better late than never right...? I figured out the lowering problem, but now I am wondering if you might know a way to bend 2x3 11 gauge tubing with out kinking it. I dont have access to a mandrel bender but I got a acetylene torch and the patience to make a jig. Me and my pops allready made a jig but we either didn't apply the heat in the right areas or we bent the metal too fast cause it kinked on three of the four bends. It could totally be fixed but its gonna take a couple grinding wheels, some metal, and some beer. I got a picture of the jig and the frame rails we bent if you want to see them.
Cool little ride. My son has a 63 Ranchero that we are slowly but surely working on. If you go to www.tffn.net there is a whole site dedicated to these old Fords. Hope this helps. Nik
