ssffnomad are your rear tires that close to the front on your wheel opening or is it just the shadows playing around
V8guy, Thanks for two 55' Nomad Pic. Are they both yours ? 57ford/60thunderbird, there is actually 3/4 clearance, tires to front of Qtr. I am looking into moving Axle back 1". Nomad/Wagon - Axle, Fuel Tank, Exhaust, Shock clearance is very tight to start with . Classic Chevy now sells a Rear Spring that moves Axle back 3/4".
I know I'm a Johnny come lately, but this Nomad reminds me of the one that got away. A late member of the West Allis Auto Club left his belongings that was up to the club to sell. This same colored Nomad was part of his collection. The original price was $7,500 (a steal), but I didn't have the cash. Surprisingly, nobody locally didn't bite either. So, it went on ebay and someone from California bought it. Makes me wonder if this is the car. The car was originally from Arizona and it's air conditioned (rare).
Ol'Bucksnort , happy to report, that scratch from Cardboard Box, sanded/buffed out without any noticeable damage.
Here's one I had back in the early 70's. Found it at a local gas station....paid $700 for it. Rebuilt a pile of stuff, chromed it, repainted it, new interior and drove it everywhere. 327, 4bbl, auto and a 10 gal saddle tank....didn't pass to many gas stations!
We have had our 56 for a long..... Long time. Vintage Magna Charger with two 110 Blowers with Weber 40 IDA Carbs on a 350, Muncie 4Speed, old school because it is old school.
Here's mine back on a standard frame getting turned back into a cruiser. I'm a little over the gasser thing.
Seeing this thread revived I noticed that I had only posted a pic of my Safaris in the garage so here they are outside. The 55 has about 180,000 mi on it now and the 57 about a hundred. The 1969 pictures were from the guy who originally built the car in the early 1960's.The 55 was actually driven in the snow inadvertantly on a trip back from Massachusetts one year.About 75 miles in a near blinding storm in the mountains of upstate New York in October.Afraid my wiper cables were going to snap from the weight of the snow and my wife desperately wiping the inside of the windshield(no defroster)while I tried to stay in the tracks left by the car that had been in front of me.Finally drove out of it and stopped and saw about 4 inches of snow piled up on top of the surfboard! Wish I had my camera with me for that one.
This was mine the day I flat towed it home. Little did I know it would take over twenty years to finish it. Ron
