Noob from Central Cal

  1. My name is Matthew...

Grew up in Visalia, California during the Sixties and was cruising Mooney Boulevard in a '66 GTO before anybody ever heard of OPEC, until I got an exhibition of speed ticket racing my buddy in his '67... which led to my first Buick: a 1964 Wildcat door slammer. That car took me everywhere and never let me down. I've been into Buicks ever since... owning a '65 'Cat, a '67 California GS, and my current 1970 Skylark.

I bought my current car on Labor Day weekend in 2000 with 60,xxx miles on the clock, and drove her home to Morro Bay from Salem Oregon in one day. Now she's got 76,xxx miles and my son (now going on fifteen) and I are talking about adding a couple of goodies to make her run a little quicker. Other than the "painted in a barn" coat of blue the car is 100% bone stock from the day.

We'd love to build a nailhead powered rod, with the big finned drums from an early Sixties Buick out front... but we're looking for the right car to do that with.

Nice to be here amongst like-minded gearheads!
